I'll echo that and say it's definitely worth that price. I bought it for around $20 and didn't regret it, even though I only ended up completing it once (though I'm thinkingof revisiting with the new-gen upgrade now out). It's not at the level of RE2R, but it's still a lot of fun.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This also applies to pretty much all Star Wars movies (with the possible exception of Attack of the Clones and Rise of Skywalker), but The Force Awakens is the most rewatchable to me, even though it's not my favorite. It moves at a great clip and is consistently entertaining, even after I've seen it two dozen times. It also helps that it takes me back to the extremely positive memories I have of seeing it in theaters (I had thought we wouldn't get any more live-action SW films after Revenge of the Sith, so to get one that I also really liked blew me away at the time). Even disliking how the new trilogy ended up hasn't dampened my enthusiasm for rewatching it.

Also, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and most Christopher Nolan films (particularly the Dark Knight trilogy and The Prestige).

I've had an LG CX OLED for a year and a half now, and I haven't had any burn-in. I don't think I do too many sessions that go longer than 2-3 hours these days, though I feel like I've definitely fallen asleep with it on a game a couple times. (Thankfully, my consoles and the TV have a pretty good sleep timer iirc.) So I don't think it's for sure going to be a problem, but if you're someone who games for 4-6 hours at a time in the same game, it's definitely worth thinking about.

Personally I'd raise an eyebrow if someone said it was their favorite but it's certainly not a bad game

Well prepare to raise that eyebrow, because Twilight Princess is my favorite Zelda game! It's mainly because of where I was in my life when it came out. It was the first mainline Zelda game that I was hyped for at release (I got a GameCube and became a fan of the series between Wind Waker and Twilight Princess), and I ended up getting it and playing it at a time in high school when I was really depressed. The game was a nice escape from all that. I honestly just loved walking around the world (like I would load up the game and just walk around without making any progress), and the story's darker tone pulled me in at the time. Plus I felt like it had a truly epic scale to it, the graphics on the GameCube impressed me (Link's clothes get wet! And then dry in real time!!! Which I think they did in Wind Waker but I guess I didn't notice it then), and I still think the music is fantastic.

It's been a long time since I've played it though, so I'm curious if my high opinion of it would hold after all this time. It's definitely not without its flaws, so I can understand why it's thought of as a more mediocre Zelda. I'm really hoping that the remaster comes to the Switch so I can play it again in HD.

Year of the Backlog for me. Not much of the 2022 lineup interests me besides Baldur's Gate 3 and Starfield, and I've got plenty of games I already own to play across Xbox, PS4, Switch, and PC, so I'm planning to limit my gaming purchases and focus on what I own. We'll see how that goes!

@topcat88: You might've already seen by now, but they said they're going to be doing GOTY in January.

I unfortunately have finished very little that came out this year; it's been a lot of backlog and multiplayer stuff. I'm having a great time with Halo Infinite, though I'm still early in the campaign, and Resident Evil: Village seems right up my alley but I'm also early in that. Also I bought NEO: The World Ends with You, but I haven't played much yet (I'm still trying to beat Paper Mario from last year).

So right now my top two frontrunners that I've finished/close to finishing are Mass Effect: Legendary Edition (which I know probably wouldn't count for a site-wide GOTY, but it's my personal list so why not), and in a big surprise for me, Guardians of the Galaxy. I'm a sucker for Marvel stuff, but even I wasn't expecting to enjoy this game (and particularly its story) so much. I'm bummed it's apparently not selling well because at this point I'd absolutely be up for a sequel.

I think this is a really cool thread idea! Some of my favorite little things:

- When games seamlessly transition from cutscene to gameplay and vice versa. I've been playing and watching Mass Effect 3 lately, and it does that a lot, which is especially surprising for a BioWare game. It's also why I think Dead Space 2 and God of War are so neat with their "one take" approach.

- Games with multiple playable characters who get unique melee animations/takedowns. For all its flaws, Resident Evil 6 is actually a great example of this.

- When an NPC tosses your character an item (especially a gun) and you catch it, particularly in first person. I know this one's kinda silly, but I remember it happening in the first Black Ops and thinking it was the coolest thing ever.

Destiny. There hasn't been a game more immediately disappointing to me this generation. I'm a huge Halo and Bungie fan, and everything about it seemed to be my exact kind of jam... but it was such a shell of a game at launch. Not to mention the storytelling felt nonexistent to me, even compared to Bungie's Halo games, which were at least competent in their storytelling. And the design of the game, along with most of the updates in its first year, was baffling. They eventually got the game to a better place with Taken King, and I had a lot of fun with it, but that initial launch still sticks in my mind.

Runners-up would be:

Mass Effect Andromeda: I really liked Inquisition and thought BioWare had turned things around. I played a ton of this game (beat it 2.5 times) and I loved the gunplay, but eventually I realized the writing and VO are mostly bad, especially compared to the original trilogy. The extreme lack of polish didn't help.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider: It wasn't terrible, but it felt like a big step back after the first two reboot games.

Quantum Break 2. Alan Wake and Control are better games, so I'm not upset at Remedy for pursuing those games instead, and in fact I'm excited for that; Control was amazing. But something about Quantum Break's story really clicked with me, and I'd love to see what they would do with it going forward. (I still think it has a fantastic ending that will sadly never lead to a sequel.)

Personally, I would be bummed if this meant them stopping making new Assassin's Creed games, because for some reason the new style of those really gels with me. It may help that, outside of dabbling with The Division, I don't play other Ubi open-world games. That being said, it doesn't sound like that is the case, and if having fewer AAA games a year and getting more revenue via F2P causes them to experiment a bit more and make their AAA games more unique, that would be a good thing. We'll see, I guess.
