Not buying the Slim. Instead, I'm taking advantage of all these firesales of the old Xbox (specifically at Walmart) and buying an Arcade Unit. 
 
It runs for 150$, and it comes with a 50$ Gift Card, Banjo & Kazooie, and Viva Pinata. 
 
Question is, I need a hard drive, so i'll just use a USB drive. 
 
Will that work? Does a USB drive function just like a hard drive? is that how it works? Thanks in advance GB community.

I'm a FightPad user, and I find it actually works pretty well. The D-Pad is surprisingly good, and eventually comboes and FADC's and such need to be input so fast and correctly, you'll need the accuracy of the D-pad. 
 
of course, a Stick is the best, but a Fight-Pad's nice too.
