@mrcraggle: No, I don't think it does. But on the other hand, there isn't a lot of things that require mastery ranks as of yet.

You can buy everything in the market at Mastery rank 4. I believe the clan weapons have pretty high mastery requirements as well (7 for Lanka, 6 for Flux, 4 for Spectra...)

Balance is "fairly good", though a few warframes certainly are quite a lot stronger than others, especially at specialized tasks (for instance: Frost, Vauban and Nyx are the strongest for defensive missions), same goes for weapons, though they aren't as well balanced.

That said, you will want to swap warframes and weapons regularly to get your mastery level up - this will give you access to a handful of mastery locked weapons. You gain mastery each time a warframe or weapon levels up. (but not after using Forma (don't worry about forma for now, though). I typically swap out a weapon/warframe whenever it hits 30 (this is the max rank).

As for mods, I've started focusing on getting a few mods up to high ranks to get maximum gains from them. Downside of this is needing to unequip a warframe/weapon when I am done with it.

That said, there are several types of builds (mod setups) for each warframe and weapon, you are best off deciding what works for you, or checking what others are doing, as there are so many different weapons and warframes that it is almost impossible to produce any sort of compendium. A good place to start is the Warframe Wiki.

Hope that helps? Feel free to ask if you have any specific questions :)

Updated map, adjusted layout as a result of the addition of Barracks as a means of adding Member capacity. Unfortunately, we will need to build the Shadow Barracks before we can build Storm Barracks, as there is a requirement on previous tiers of the barracks.

Deep blue color is now "currently built", Green is "Planned", Red are reserved rooms (should be explain themselves from image), Grey is just to outline the idea of future expansions. Apologies to color blind people - just couldn't find a sensible way of marking the green rooms in a sensible manner. Maybe next update?

Reading these posts about the clan, I don't think I understand what Warframe is.

Ex-intern Matt Kessler described it as [paraphrasing] "if Mass Effect multiplayer played like the new Syndicate's."

From what I've read and seen, it appears to me like EVE Online, but a shooter, but nothing like Dust 514. That's just my outsider's perspective, with no actual research or anything.

I can see where he's coming from, though, it's not quite as frantic - there is nothing like the DART hacking to keep track of WHILE Shooting and Parkouring :)
But yeah, third person shooter with space ninjas(!) and parkour and "special abilities" (think fireballs, teleport backstabs, dashes, the like). The Dojo functionality on top of that is quite compelling as well - even if there are currently some growing pains.

And as for those growing pains, Digital Extremes (the develop) has been quite open about feeling like the best they can do is develop fast and get systems in our hands, see what happens and make the necessary adjustments, rather than spent months designing and developing complicated systems that will most likely be too late to solve whatever problem, and b) gives the community more opportunity to help design the future of the game.

Overall - quite happy with how they are doing, even if they have made poor choices at times (like the Informer weekend event!).

As for EVE - yeah, I don't see that, there's not really any incentive to backstab one another here, it's all Cooperative. Unless you mean the art? I think some Tenno stuff could be Gallente, from their organic shapes... but that's about it? Can you explain what you mean? :)

Dojo update!

We are currently building the first 2 reactors (and 3rd cross connector hallway) on the Sublevel.
We are also about 1000 polymer bundles away from "finishing" Research (for now - they are almost certainly going to add more in the future.

What does this mean?

It means that we are close to being able to add more people.

I'm in the clan, what can I do?

Please contribute resources to the Sublevel rooms that are being built! And to the energy research.

Also, I just noticed that DE has added "Barracks" to increase clan size. I'm tempted to tear down Taswell Hall and make a Grandest Hall out of it, for the shits and giggles, but I'm sure that'd be a terrible idea, so let's not do that. But seriously, I'm thinking about making a "Barracks wing" on the reactor sublevel... but I'll do some research first.

But please help contribute if you are in the clan.

@humanity: That's really good. I see what you are going for with the smudges/hologram distortion lines - just not sure how it's going to look. Then again... we won't know 'till we see it, I guess.

And yeah, moving away from the strictly black/red theme did help a lot.

Still insanely busy, haven't had much time to play this week. But last time I logged on (last night), I believe we still hadn't finished the first cross-connector corridor on the Reactor Sublevel. We still need to finish another 2 cross-connectors and 3 reactors before we can start on the clan hall, so do help with contributing resources.

@mrcraggle: It was TEKUMS.

As for the weapons, I believe we are 2 weapons away from being "done" with research for now - so roughly a week until that is done (3days per research + time remaining on the current research (2d?))

I've not had much time to play this week - things are pretty crazy at work (and are likely to stay this way this week out, at least) - so I'm not sure on the exact status on the dojo building. I'll see if I can login during the day and check if the temporary reactor upstairs is done yet, and if so, if I can get the elevator to the sublevel started. I'll keep my post in the other thread updated, as I had the short term plan for this rolling there.

@humanity: Nice! I especially like the 4th one (the diamond pattern) - but doesn't really tie in with the giant bomb theme much (not necessarily needed, I don't know?) Other than that, Number 2 or Number 1 are my favorites of those. 5 is cool, but feels overly complicated - probably going to lose a lot of that detail ingame.

@pipedreams: I like it! Not sure how I feel about the bomb's fuse facing the right (I am assuming that, as the Emblem ends up on the right shoulder, a right-facing fuse will be facing "forward" - but that might be crazy talk. Potentially could be helped by a border or something, but what do I know?

Scanlines could be super awesome or total failure, hard to say before we've seen it ingame, unfortunatley. I like the conceptual idea, though :)

@geirr: That bomb. Is the bomb. Of cute.

(re:all - Not that I'm deciding what the emblem is going to be in any way, I'm just stating my opinion on the designs posted - which, admittedly is probably going to be impossible to meet, because I'm a criticizing jerk. That said, amazing work so far! Getting there :) )

@humanity: Good start.

I'm thinking the lean might make it look a bit weird on warframes' though, as it's placed on the right shoulder the "fuse". Then again, maybe that's good?

Also, you should be working with PNGs. I believe PNG transparency (not 100% sure on that!) is how you introduce transparency in the actual emblem ingame.

There are a few examples on the wiki here, I especially like the cogwheels emblem.

here are some examples of other peoples' emblems (on the official warframe forums), for inspiration:

Pink Giant Octupus

Not sure what clan, but shows ingame screenshot

Another unidentified clan

Doom

Asuro (note, this is an old one, before they changed transparency from black color to PNG transparency)

Several examples (Note: it's a bug report thread for black being transparency, this has been fixed)

And some random inspiration:

buzz_clik making Wipeout logos

Several examples from Syndicate

Deux EX: HR

edit: adding some more stuff that could work:

Foxhound

Kojima Productions

Laughing Man

Edit2: as the game has quite a lot of japenese roots, why did I not think of Japanese Clan Emblems (Mon) previously?

@newhaap: You can only contribute to the actively queued research item - which means that me, Jackel, MrCraggle or Rapid needs to logon to queue new research after the previous has expired.

Research is done sequentially, from the first item on the list to the last.

Once research has been queued, all members of the clan can contribute resources to the list required to finish the item. Once the required resources are pledged, there will be a 3 day timer at which point we can't do anything but wait. I believe we are on the third item on all 3 labs.

TLDR: There's a "Contribute" button to the bottom right of the Laboratory UI. If it's not there, you are either looking at the wrong item, or it's already counting down (3days, left of where the button should be).

Any finished research you can buy the pattern for 15k credits each. Building the weapons requires you to craft a number of the first item in the research UI (Detonite, Mutagen... what ever the third is called).
