@SethPhotopoulos said:

Marcus dies though.

I'm not so sure about that, seeing how Borderlands is a story told by Marcus, and he "appears" (voice) in the credits for Claptrap Revolution (see video above), after apparently being shot.

Maybe he can use the New-U stations? :P

@MrOldboy: Because this rewards a different group. And It doesn't make much sense to add more rewards to pre-order rewards post-launch? Shift codes with 10 000 redeems (per platform) give quite a lot of people access to further keys.

And the keys are fully optional. It's a fun extra thing, not something you need to beat the game or get cool loot.

And from what Randy Pitchford's been saying on Twitter, they are still working on getting this system to work properly, so this is most likely a kind of "beta test".

Yeah, like has been stated - your first order of business should be to identify which fan is actually making the sound - guessing is not good enough. If you can manually set the speed of your fans, then that's a great way of testing it out. Otherwise, I'd suggest taking the side off and carefully listening to where the sound is coming from (making sure not to headbutt anything, or get hair in any fans).

A whirring sound sounds like it'd either be the bearings of the fan (in which case it's not good anymore), or there's something obstructing it, like a cable - which you should, obviously, move out of the way (and secure so it doesn't happen again).

@Pieman51: It's a term used to describe a game with an "open world" which in which additional areas are unlocked by the player gaining access to key items, be they actual keys or... rockets to blast through special breakable walls. Typical examples include Metroid, Castlevania, Shadow Complex.

In other words, it's the opposite to the Grand Theft Autos and that kind of Open World game, in which there is often a magical story-telling reason why you can't explore outside the area you are currently in ("This island of <name> City is currently on lockdown - all bridges are closed!").

See Metroidvania for more info. (though it puts a lot of emphasis on the Metroidvania games needing to be 2D, sidescrolling games - which I disagree with.)

Hope that helps.

The thing here, is that Greenlight is about trying to convince Consumers to play your game.

So, It's advertising.

I've not looked at your game on Greenlight yet, but I've seen a lot of games on Greenlight that do a terrible job of explaining why you should be interested in their games - everything from having every bloody lets play video anyone has ever made of the game (including ones that are negative towards it).

Personally - bad graphics are not something I'd condemn something for. But the graphics are the first thing you see of the game (well, after the name of the game and possibly the logo), and is your first impresion. If the graphics are "bad", and the hook of the game is not apparent...

Meanwhile, a game with amazing graphics has the initial impression going for it. And if the reader has a short attentionspan, that may be enough to get a vote up.

So, basically - if this is an issue for your game, look into how you can market it in such a way that the screenshots and videos available inform the consumer of why your game is awesome, without distracting them with screenshots that could have been taken from any game a couple of years ago. Market for your strengths, don't advertise your weaknesses. If you want to have additional screenshots, host them elsewhere.

*shrug* Just some thoughts I've had since Greenlight was launched, and seeing how few (on Greenlight) understand what Greenlight is.

@QuistisTrepe: Well, there is the added complexity of loyal vs not loyal.

Any character who is not loyal is pretty much dead - though I understand there are some ways you can get around that as well(?). And there are some cases where, due to the order you did things in, you are unable to secure loyalty of all characters (like what Patrick described with Miranda vs Jack).

Personally, my first playthrough had me losing Zaaed during the suicide mission because I did not have high enough Paragon score when I did his loyalty mission, and was not willing to sacrifice civilians in his mad dash for vengeance (also, screw Zaaed).

But yeah, it seems to be difficult to lose a lot of people without actively aiming for that.

@Mackinder: Fwiw, it's not about non-subscribers not getting access to it - it's about subscribers who live in Europe (and other not-US places) not being able to stay up all night (literally, started at 2 am for me), to watch it. Much like we have to stay up all night to take part in TNT, etc. (needless to say, that's an especially difficult thing to do on a work/school night)

And yeah, the interest here is really only half in what's being shown off (it's going to be shown later), it's the inevitable hijinx.

*shrug*

And the reason why people are making a fuss about it, is so that the crew knows that this stuff is interesting for archiving.

I do wish they'd put a little more effort into catering to the not-US members of their site. Just a little bit.

(And to be clear here, I'm not raging, I'm just a bit bummed out, feeling like a second-rate subscriber)
