Hello from space! - RymdResa Devlog #1
By morgondag 0 Comments

Let us introduce ourself: We're Morgondag, a two-person indie team, based in Sockholm, Sweden. We started to develop the game RymdResa for about a year ago. RymdResa got greenlit in january this year, and we're hoping to release the game soon.
RymdResa is a procedurally generated space odyssey. Abstract poetry, music and art are expressed throughout a lonely journey in a big, empty and silent space, where your role as a spaceship pilot is unclear. You know a few coordinates to some random locations; but this is the only information you got. Find randomized loot, customize your ship, explore and interact in the retro stylized and non violent world of RymdResa.
We're releasing RymdResa firstly on PC. Later on we'll also release on iPad, Linux, Mac and WiiU.

Chapter 1 – Hope: Your home is gone. Exterminated. You will never be whole again. Your soul is crushed. But not your head, not your body. You need to find a new habitable planet for the survivors. That is your mission, an impossible one. Your only reality. Is there any hope? Search!
Chapter 2 – A new home: A new planet. A new beginning for your species. Make your home flourish! Gather!
Chapter 3 – Nether Space: Only the bravest one can survive in nether space, where the dangerousness is greater than ever. Travel beyond the knowledge itself and find wonders and myths among the threats of space. Explore!

Resources are sparse. The world is infinitive and unknown. The universe is lonely, open and unforgiving, but that doesn't mean it isn't peaceful. We have tried to create a place for relaxation and beauty.
Key features:
- Procedural World: The world is different every-time you play, with over 250 different objects discover, like planets, stars and spaceships.
- Randomized Loot:There is a large amount of different item types you can find to enhance your ship. Click here if you want to read a in depth description about the inventory system.
- Ship Customization: Every ship have in total 8 item-slots. You can find different styles for your ships, auras and other improvements.
- Beautiful Art: A retro inspired pixel-art mixed with a posterized style, together with a strict color pallet. Explore and enjoy a big set of visuals, crafted with RymdResa's' art style.
- Original Soundtrack: Every ship has a custom soundtrack enhancing the world around it. Two musicians; Tom Croke & Pat Jacobs, have created the soundtrack with their vision of the game.
- Interactive Text-based Exploration: There are over a hundred text-based quests. The outcome reflects your choices. Poetic and abstract stories will tell you about the world of RymdResa.
- Voice-acted Story: While traveling the universe you will some time hear a voice log from the pilot describing thoughts feelings and poetry. Voice acted by Eric Reed.
- Non Violent: We didn't want to create yet another space-shooter, with laser-beams and exploding aliens. In RymdResa the game-play is peaceful, passive and relaxing.
- Pilot Level: Customize your statistics and skills.

Enough of what RymdResa is! Let us start the devlog!
What we do right now:
- Designing chapter 3.
- Updating the steam version.
- Planning the release, milestones and deadlines + future patches.
We have also added some new cool *consumable item-types (in fact there are 18 new ones). Here's two of them:

This week we've mostly worked on project planning; scheming out a proper workflow with deadlines and milestones; hoping to release RymdResa early next year. RymdResa is part of our every-day life, and we truly love it. We're both working really hard to get it out to you as soon as possible. But we won't release until we feel ready. It's important for us that the game match our vision completely before we do.
Today we've also sent our first newsletter. Do you also want them? Sign up on the RymdResa homepage!
Love from, Morgondag - Kim & Vendela
*consumable item-types: Apart from equippable items in RymdResa there is consumable items. These items can only be used once after that you need to find another one, but you can carry a big amount of each. You have 4 active consumable slots on your ship these items can then be used in space. Most of them are made to help you on your journey others might even be used as currency.
