My Top 10 GameCube Games

This is my personal top ten list for best GameCube titles!

List items

  • I absolutely love the art style, the sailing, the story and characters, the weapons and fighting...if only combat was a little harder, had a couple more dungeons, and sped up the sailing later in the game, it would be flawless in my eyes.

  • One of the best games ever crafted. Hard to pick among this, Wind Waker and Metroid Prime for the top spot.

  • The perfect transition of Super Metroid to the polygonal realm. I had a lot of doubts about this game, but it turned out to be one of the best in the series. Easily the best Prime game, which is saying a lot.

  • As far as multiplayer games go, this is the one I have played the most by far. Though Brawl has made this game obsolete for me and my friends, it still holds a special place in my heart. It took an interesting concept but flawed game (N64) and made it amazing.

  • Anybody who's been strangely hooked by games like Harvest Moon would totally understand why this game is appealing - there's no clear-cut objectives, no fighting, no bosses or levels, but it's incredibly addicting and fun as crap. I played this game consistently for a long time, fully expecting to play it forever, but it did eventually get old. I would love a sequel that improves things dramatically.

  • My favorite fighting game. Soul Calibur since this game hasn't been as good, but I really got into II. The controls are smooth, the characters are cool, and the graphics are impressive.

  • Loads of fun, and a dramatic improvement over the charming original launch game. The co-op levels are deviously challenging, the campaign is long and rewarding, and they somehow maintain the sense of urgency without the time limit. Oh, and it's very pretty and quirky. Yep.

  • Despite some naysayers, I like this game a lot more than Mario 64. It's got a lot of issues, but the style, controls, and feel of the game are fantastic. The world is lush and detailed, and it's just fun to screw around and explore. Super Mario Galaxy is worlds better, but Sunshine is still a lot of fun.

  • Lengthy, humorous, and fun pretty much from start to finish. This game is a lot more fun than the N64 game, and very creative with the papery art style. There's some unnecessary padding here and there, but otherwise it's a very well designed game.

  • Tight action, great controls, funny dialogue, and a crazy art style, Viewtiful Joe has it all. It's a ton of fun once you get past the difficulty of the game, which is fairly brutal like Devil May Cry or Ninja Gaiden. An action classic.
