I've got a few friends who have been playing this and all of them have said it's not a good game but they can't stop playing it. I don't see anything wrong with micro transactions in general, I've paid for the odd thing here and there, but having your unlocks gated by 8 hour long timers?! That's just ridiculous. Micro transactions can and have been done right, but this is just getting into foul territories.
I miss the days when you paid for a game up front and got access to everything. Well, It's a nice look into our dark dystopian future.
the 8 hours never bothered me actually. there's actually a good thing about the timers. as a free player, you play a couple of games, fill your crown chest, get 4 chests for your bottom row and then unlock the 3 hour chests over the day and the longer chests over night. you still get tons of cards and i never had the urge to pay currency to open them, because i would always play in short bursts, not for hours on end.
Is it actually a good game, or just a well designed Skinner box?
It is a well designed game imo.
it really is. it's super well balanced and kinda rock paper scissorish. also you really can play it without spending money and have several hours of fun. there's a bit of grind involved after 10 or so hours but i still feel good about playing it.
a dozen HOURS? i would understand your opinion if you said minutes but how do you play a game like this for 12 hours and then come to the conclusion that its bad? i played it for about 3 now and i'm getting a little bit fatigue now. damn.
There is NO WAY this game is 3 stars out of 5. Who reviewed this game? Waluigi? At a minimum, due to the technical issues, this game deserves 4 stars. I have experienced a few bugs and framerate drops, but the core elements of this game are vastly improved over XCOM Enemy Unknown/Within. I'm having tons of fun with this game and I think it is 5 out of 5 stars despite some minor/annoying technical issues.

Mario is a trademark of Nintendo. The total disregard for trademark rights is quite despicable. Time to go make a videogame starring Jeff Gerstmann and that other dude that died, I'm sure no one will care since I'll just say I'm a big fan and that will make everything all right.

Honestly $40 seems like a lot for this game. It seems like a very simple environmental puzzle game, that's what I got from the Quick Look. I feel like they should've shown a little more.
if you like puzzles, whats wrong with $40 for a 80-100 hours game? Also, have you even listened to brad on how challenging the puzzles will get? how can you define "very simple" if you have no experience on what the challenge defines? Brothers and DOTA are both amazing games. If you don't like them, doesn't mean they're hot universally known as hot garbage. Reflect.
@topgunmv: i'm guessing the sensor (aka camera), the dongle for the xbox controller and two 3.0 for the headset itself, tightly packed so you can get all the energy through usb 3.0 instead of having two seperate cables: one for usb 3.0 and one power cable, which would make the cable management a horror scenario.
