Okay so the upcoming gaming season is almost here. Lately I have been seeing some serious preorder sale prices for PC downloadable titles. Case in point is Shadow of Mordor. Which today was discounted to 37.50 on greenmangaming.com. This game has been on my radar for a while now but lately I have been very wary of any supposed AAA game that gets a pre-order price that low before launch. Example is Aliens Colonial Marines which was discounted by the same site for around the same price. Needless to say I drank the Kool-aid of previews and the supposed Gearbox (Shame on Andy Pitchford) studio's involvement. Which because of the too good to be true pre-order price fooled me into buying a shit game which is a pet peeve of mine at any price. So we return to Shadows Of Mordor which is now being discounted before launch and this has me paranoid that GmG knows something that the industry news sites aren't telling us. This game is going to suck. So what do GiantBombers think? What thing's do others look for that puts up a red flag that a title is not ready for prime time? Lack of gameplay videos? Development time?

Break down your formula for not stepping in shit. I think it would help alleviate a lot of grief if people could learn some great tools to avoid making a uninformed decision. Also before I hear it I realize that the easiest answer is to wait for review but once again if you wait for a review the game is no longer on sale. Input is appreciated.

Bought Colonial Marines because of Gearbox's supposed involvement. I'm usually pretty good about sniffing out a turd but I'm a huge fan of the franchise and learned a lesson big time. No way I'm touching this at launch. I'll wait for it to go on sale during a slow time for releases.

I commend you for keeping a open mind about this game but I respectfully disagree with you completely. If you like the old games especially Undisputed 3 you should not even attempt to play this. At least those games had a logical control scheme that worked. Punches had impact and the counter system was worthwhile and useful. I bought a PS4 specifically for this game and am so glad I rented it after playing the demo. In fact I have to give EA praise for even releasing a demo which to me exposed the faults of this game instantly. It made me cancel a pre-order and instead I rented it from gamefly just to give it a serious chance. After playing it for a couple days it went right back into the mail. Maybe EA will get it right next time.

Controls are overly complicated and while I practiced and took my time to try to learn it, I never felt that my inputs on the controller were translating to the action on the screen. Strikes lack impact standing and on the ground, fighters move sets are all the same regardless of styles. Submission system is fun in theory but against a human opponent you'll be lucky to sink one in at all unless they are completely drained of stamina.

I'll sum it up with one statement. This is the most disappointing game since Aliens Colonial Marines.

Nothing more then my attempt to get some older cats together who enjoy gaming. Don't care what platform you own, no religion no politics other then that just want to get heads together who love gaming and are old enough to know how to respect each other. Feel free to join.

Check yoru device manager. Look under display adapters. Then look for something to do with AMD. Then disable it and see what happens. Did you pull a stick of ram?

First off I would boot clean. Not safe mode mind you but go through your start up and make sure there is nothing but the essentials booting and running in the background. Disable Steam, UPlay, Virus program all that jazz. Make sure your monitor is being represented correctly in device manager. Generic is fine but also look under the properties of your display to make sure it's corresponding correctly. I use a television through hdmi but it shouldn't make a difference. Get rid of any proprietary utilities that may have come with your motherboard. In fact don't run any of them because they tend to be garbage. Example is Virtu MVP. If there is a integrated gpu on your processor disable it in device manager. Is it only when gaming that it crashes? Or does it crash through normal use such as surfing the net etc. Does the card have a bios switch? If so is it set for a overclock? If it is then switch it back to normal mode and see how it runs. Also pull a stick of ram and run with 4 then if it's fine try the other stick. Give us a bit more hardware info as well. Don't leave out things like harddrive, monitor etc. Good luck.

My opinion. Not ready for prime time. Animations, especially transitions and take downs are not smooth and captured well at all. Controller input just doesn't seem to match the action on the screen. Combat lacks impact. Overly complicated controls. I could go on but I going to agree with the Op, I'm incredibly disappointed because anticipation for this game was the tipping point for me to jump into next generation. What makes it even more disappointing is that this is coming from the Fight Night Champion team who I thought was a perfect choice to take over the reins. Instead we get another example of just cause it's pretty doesn't make it good. I do have to give EA credit though for putting a demo out there so that consumers can make a informed purchase. Or in my case a used purchase far down thread.

I'm going to wait even though I have a PS3. Gives me time to dive into Titanfall, Infamous Second Son and finish up Castlevania and South Park.
