Wait until right around the Super Bowl if your in the market for a new television. That's when you will see the biggest sales of the year from most major retailers. Hold off a couple of weeks for your purchase and you will save yourself a lot of money. Or be able to stay within your budget and still get those features such as 3D and Smart capability. As to what type I agree with others about going plasma over lcd or led. I stand by plasmas and as long as manufacturers are making those panels that is what I am going to own. Above all else be patient with your purchase and shop around!

Man is violent. That is all that needs to be said. Before a video game was ever created man has killed and will continue to kill long after. Before video games it was movies. Before movies little boy's pretended to be cowboy's and Indians and shot each other with fake guns. To deny this fact about ourselves is useless. All we can do as a society is educate and communicate about what the reality of violence is and the fantasy of what violence in entertainment is. Real laws that need to be passed for things such as gun control and mental health reform should be focused on much more then whether or not video games are too violent. Because lets face it I'm not going to blow smoke up anyone's A$$ and say that I'm above enjoying violent movies or video games.

So far from reading this thread I'm wondering if I need to up the voltage on my Sapphire Radeon 7970 oc when playing certain games in DX10 or 11. Basically I crash sometimes to a black screen and still hear audio in the background. This is followed by a hard reset. Anything in DX9 runs flawlessly. Far Cry 3 is the same issue. I can run it fine for a few minutes then it crashes to a black screen giving me a resolution not supported. Which software would folks recommend I use to adjust voltage settings? Sapphire Trixx?

My new baby built in May 2012

CPU: Intel I5-3570k

MOBO: Asrock Z77 extreme 4 with 16 gigs 1600 corsair ram.

VIDEO: Sapphire Radeon 7970 oc

HD: 1tb Western digital black

SOUND: Asus xonar dx

SPEAKERS: Vizio sound bar 510 5.1 surround sound bar.

MONITOR: 51 inch Samsung d550 3D plasma television

Microsoft wireless mouse and keyboard but I try to use a 360 controller for just about everything if I can.

Windows 7 home premium 64 bit.

Yea I spent more then I should have on the computer itself but so far it has been the best investment I've made in gaming in a long, long time. Hooked up to my television I game on it just like one of my consoles with no issues at all. In fact I'm in no hurry to invest anything in next gen other then Nintendo Wii U for my kids and Sony's next for the exclusives. As to microsofts next system I have a big feeling I won't even worry about it.

Not a big deal. It's one or two quick clicks then your in the game having fun. Uplay, Origin, Steam or whatever they are trivial things to deal with considering the versatility and value that's in pc gaming.

Old school book series from the 80's called Spellsinger by Alan Dean Foster. In fact anything by Alan Dean Foster if you like trippy weird sci-fi fantasy type books.

Voted Obama in Nebraska. The state is typically red, however we use the Congressional District Method when distributing our electoral votes. I live in the 2nd district and in the 08 election, actually gave Obama one electoral vote. Fingers crossed it's the same this year!

The rest of my ballot was democrat for senate and house with a mix (abstaining my vote in one district) for legislature.

Same here in Nebraska as well.   Not surprised Bob Kerry lost nad hate to say that bigot Steve King won Iowa as well.

I'm going to do a playthrough of every one of them since the PC version is still almost a month away.

Get the pc. Wait on the Wii U, there's a helluva lot more you can play on a computer than a Wii U. Plus you can wait for a price drop and for the Wii U library to fill out

What he said. PC is more versatile and the library games is far more diverse at this time. Your Wii U depending on your gaming tastes is going to be playing many games that have been released previously on other platforms ex Armored edition Batman and Assassins creed. I only buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo made game's the rest I will always play on other platforms. Wait for your 3D Mario's and Zelda's to be released then pull the trigger on Wii U. I'm personally going to wait until next years E3 to see what Nintendo is planning on releasing from there in house people.

Here's my final thought. Just buy it, build it and enjoy it. Take everyones advice at heart but in the end you will nit pick yourself into insanity until you pull the trigger and go for it. Once again my suggestion is 660TI, or 7950, I5-2500k or 3570k and screw the SSD because for the size your spending too much. Remember you can always upgrade a part in the future if it's needed. Have fun dude in whatever you go with.
