Games I've Fallen Asleep Playing

Coming home after a late night of what-have-you, sometimes it's nice to take a few minutes to chill before hitting the mattress.  That doesn't always follow through how you'd like.  Here's a few of the games I've put on either as a nightcap or just an after hours probably-should-go-to-bed-but-didn't cap.

List items

  • This one's pretty obvious, it practically begs you to get some shut-eye. Beautiful, calming, possibly to a fault.

  • The monotony of the exploration did it here. Fun, but the faux-Ash voice gets stale pretty quick.

  • Quiet, reflective score, calming black and white hues...and I'm gone. Awesome game though.

  • Waiting a good 30-45 seconds each time you die? I can't stay up for this crap.

  • Checkin' graves, checkin' graves, [drops controller]...

  • Great game, but level after similar level can really do it for you.

  • The rare late night PC flash game title. This mostly counts as a sleep aid because of the trippy 8-bit soundtrack and the rhythmic up and down gameplay.

  • The loading screens did it on this exquisite Diablo-if-it-were-a-Saturday-morning-cartoon click fest. That said, can't wait for T2 with multiplayer. As it is apparent the Diablo3 is never coming out.

  • With that hypnotic score by Baiyon, it is the most restful doze I've had in years.

  • Again with the excessive load screens. At least for the PS3, I think there were "Sonic Says..." screens between the SFX Volume and Music Volume options. This is not a super advanced game, people.

  • Played the limited PC flash version. This game is brutal. Brutal. So much so that, after dying about 30 times on one level, alas, my mouse hand fell. As did my head, onto the desk.

  • The slight variations in the levels, combined with the frustrating necessity for extreme precision, combined with the DS, put this game in the "do not play while operating heavy machinery" category. Which, truth be told, is where all games belong.

  • Fun, straight ahead JRPG, but featuring an oddly religious back story. Being an angel and sneaking up on people to slip their car keys into their pockets, however, does not tend to keep one from the beckoning pillow for long.

  • Three words. Three horrible, brain skewering words. Big The Cat.

  • No explanation needed, ask Ryan.
