@sarahsdad: I thought that weird too. Maybe it's so that we can't fake it out by bending down and up instead of actually jumping...
I also found as a whole it seems to work better below my TV than above. I initially mounted it above because I figured it would work better since I'm tall.
Finally, I'm noticing that it works better if I jump before I think I really need to. I'm wondering if this is an issue with my TV. I had an issue with Guitar Hero where the notes on screen weren't in sync with the music. I would be strumming with what was on the screen, but it was wrong... I can't remember how I fixed it. My TV doesn't have a "GAME" mode per say, but I think I flipped a bunch of other settings.
The final problem is that I have a low ceiling. If I jump too high I hit my head.
I like the Kinect. I think it's the future. I'm a nerd and willing to futz with it until I get it working right. I'm concerned that the general public will give up after 10 minutes. I'd hate to see something so cool die before it even gets a chance.
I really feel that if the Kinect and the Move got together and did the baby-makin' thang we'd have a hell of a product. I think there's a need for a controller for more advanced gameplay, but full body motion tracking and voice recognition are game changers. I feel like if someone could pull all these things together well it would create a truly revolutionary gaming experience.
I'm having a pretty frustrating issue with Kinect adventures. It seems like the Kinect isn't registering half my jumps! This is really frustrating in the river boat game and the obstacle course. I'll be literally jumping up and down hitting my head on the ceiling and the Kinect won't recognize it...
Any suggestions? I'm about 8ft back and I've run the calibration thing.
