arguing about the usage of the word "censorship" is....well, stupid. it can mean multiple things. "government censorship" is not the only meaning of "censorship". thats why "government censorship" is a phrase. if a game company, like nintendo or 8-4 or koei tecmo or whoever, forces a product to change...thats censorship. whether theyre doing it to protect virgin baby westerner eyes, or to advertise to a different demographic doesnt matter. they're taking monolith soft's product, changing it, and giving me a different product, based solely on where i live in the world.

also, this is the last ill say...but saying "just import it" is a really really poor solution to a problem. most people in the west that are going to want this kinda stuff, dont speak japanese. otherwise they would've imported it when it initially released like a year before. not to mention, importing is more expensive and takes forever.

@somejerk: taking the words right outta my mouth. and whats even weirder about the bust slider in xenoblade: the slider is gone...but the characters bust isnt even default. they're at like the 1/4th position of the japanese versions slider. not only are large(r) breasts taboo, but apparently so are normal sized breasts. in fact, if you look at some screenshots of the japanese version, the largest bust option isnt even as busty as some of the NPC characters that have remained intact in the western version. so whats the point?!?!?!

and changing some of Lins textures is fine...but they shrunk her actual character model, and gave her a bigger head. she just looks weird to me now. but heres the biggest question...if you dont like how underage a character is...why not just replace "13" on her bio? nintendos done that kinda stuff before. they could've saved themselves a ton of work (and people getting mad on the internet) if they just said "oh, well shes actually 16" or whatever...

i gotta say, i side with the publishers on the kotaku thing. this isnt just breaking an embargo or something, they were posting illegally obtained secret documents. we're talking about information that not even every employee AT each respective company was allowed to see. kotaku only gets away with it because they didnt break any rules, the only person breaking rules (breaking contracts) is their sources. and as long as kotaku protects their source, nobody is going to take the fall for what is basically a crime. think about it this way, what if kotaku had hacked into bethesdas internal email client and found that page of script. that'd be illegal, right? bethesda would be able to take actual legal action against kotaku. ok, so why is this any different? why does having a middle man make a crime excusable? youre still stealing secret company information and damaging, not only their business and prospective sales, but internal planning. a lot of time and effort, from a lot of people, goes into planning video game announcements and PR, and a lot of peoples hard work goes down the drain when the instant you flippantly throw their secrets on the internet for all to see.

now i know why nintendos advertising campaigns for yo-kai watch in the west focused so much on them not being 'ghosts'. i figured people would get it, but i guess not. all yo-kai are not necessarily ghosts, but all ghosts would fall under the purvey of yo-kai.
