nice to see another legal-minded person here. Yes, the antitrust angle is a fairly obvious one, and seems to be the direction 7 Studios is trying to take. Still, as work on Scratch is still reportedly underway, their position is a bit weak...they should probably be happy to have been bought out, but maybe the deal wasn't that favorable so they're hoping for a settlement? Pure speculation, of course, but time will tell.
All the FFs from 4 onwards have aged really well imo bc RPGs are just timeless. I'd personally love a remake of 7 (or any of them, for that matter) but I don't really think its necessary. Case in point, I was replaying 7 a while back on PC with graphics mods, but soon after I took the mods off bc the original super-deformed graphics just have so much charm/nostalgia that I actually found myself preferring them to the more realistic ones.
I think everyone is overreacting. When Nintendo actually comes out and says what its planning to do with this technology, if anything, then the criticism can fly. But for now, we should all just wait and see.
