So today Respawn launched its first Season/Battle Pass as well as a new character, Octane, for Apex Legends. Looking at the rewards, the battle pass definitely has a "first go at it" feel, but I'm excited for new stuff in the game. Octane's abilities look pretty sweet and I can't wait to see the effect he has on the game.

Respawn was weirdly adamant about the fact that nothing in this battle pass will ever come back to the game after the season ends if you didn't unlock it (think I saw that in a dev comment on the subreddit). Maybe I only say that because I think that's been the single worst thing about this kind of progression system. I very much prefer content being added permanently to games, rather than having an artificial scarcity/time limit applied to them. But as it turns out, players really love timers.

Still, I'll be getting this and working my way through it. This game is so great that Respawn has more than earned it from me. Anyone else jumping in this week?

Great mid-field battle that Bottas unfortunately had to interrupt and drive through. Excited to see how that evolves over the course of the season. And what an extremely unlucky start for Ricciardo, though I’m not sure I understand why he felt the need to drive into the grass. Slow start from whoever was in front of him?

Edit: Rewatched the start of the race and yeah, Ricciardo got squeezed out onto the grass. Bummer!

I haven't watched F1 since probably the 2013 or 2014 season, really excited to get back into it this year. So much has changed since I last watched. I've signed up for F1TV and it seems pretty impressive so far.

@frodobaggins: I’ve been pretty bad at the last several Call of Duty games but I cleaned house from CoD4 through Black Ops 2. Not really sure what happened. It was pretty awesome jumping into Bog the other night and going something like 30-6 with the M40 sniper rifle just like the old days.

I can see it both ways, though the solo experience has always been my least favorite way to play a BR game. I’d also be worried that a solo mode would influence the development of future Legends. This game is best as a team game and I’d definitely like for that to be the only focus.

The main character seems like the least interesting person in the world, but I also said that about Arthur Morgan pre-release and he became one of my favorite protagonists of all time. I’m tentatively excited to see how this game turns out if only because it’s the Syphon Filter studio (probably in name only but hey, that’s cool) and because Sony’s line of exclusives has a tremendous track record this generation. We’ll see how it goes!

My only experience with PS4 Remote Play was playing Persona 5 on my MacBook while watching baseball games on my TV. The video quality would dip but it worked well enough for grinding in a turn based game.

This... I have no interest in this.

@sloppydetective: I think I have more wins with two randoms than with one because I find it easier to just roll with what they're doing. Sometimes this works out well, but definitely not always.

Trying to coordinate with one friend becomes useless when the third wheel can singlehandedly dismantle what we're trying to do, though that's partially on us for not bothering to chat with them!
