Another batch! That Quadra 66 (yellow car) is beautiful. Just got a text to buy one of my own (I stole the one you see here) so now I'm saving up for it.
I've thought about this a bit as it pertains to certain kinds of games that people just expect to be able to play infinitely. I remember when The Division came out players were upset at the weak end game content. But I had spent around 20 or 25 hours slowly working my way through the main content, and felt good and satisfied when I finished the story. Seeing people mad about that was crazy to me, because we don't have the same expectation for other games. Nobody who finished The Last of Us was angry that there was no end game content, for instance. It's like the presence of an end game makes players ignore everything that comes before it, like none of it matters.
That's a bit different from something like FFXV though, since that's a single player only game. Typically in those instances I don't really bother completing the post-credits stuff like you said. Watch Dogs Legion actually has a sort of epilogue quest line after you finish the story but I didn't bother with it. I guess Red Dead Redemption I and II are the only cases where they make good on that post-story stuff for me.
@sethmode: I learned after roughly 55 hours of playing that you can use the explosive trap arrows to break those walls. Wish I had known that 55 hours sooner! Yeah I was way into the story but I just could not get over the constant hang ups. They never end!
Yeah this game has broken me. I'm glad I'm not the only one who had a bad time getting the treasures and completing some of the mysteries. Both features are almost universally annoying across the entire game.
Some interesting thoughts in here. For me, Odyssey is probably my favorite game in the series, and Origins is pretty close behind. But I'm beginning to cool on Valhalla after 34 hours unfortunately. I'm surprised that people have raved about the Mysteries so much, because I have found nearly all of them to be really bad.
I'm disappointed that loot was toned down so much and not really replaced with anything meaningful. Combat has become rather boring because of it. I'm also getting super frustrated at how many locked and barred doors there are. I want to be able to just bash my way through these instead of lingering around trying to find a way in, especially when I know the reward waiting within is probably just some scraps of leather and a piece of ore to slightly upgrade the stats of my shoes.
I'm enjoying it. It's maybe the most political game I've ever played, which is amusing coming from a publisher that tries to swear up and down that its games aren't political. Every five seconds someone is saying something that is very outwardly political and probably controversial to someone. It's a lot.
A somewhat early story mission has you meeting an Albion informant and I recruited him right away. It's been kinda game breaking being able to just walk into every Albion location (which seems to be most of them) and complete my missions with little difficulty. Pretty cool though!
