Changing Times

I do think that the sale of used games is a definite problem, since it can have a substantial impact on game companies, however, with things as they are, its a much better value to buy used games, because you may only save 5-10 bucks now, but if you make a lot of game purchases, then the savings add up to a lot. If I can buy a new copy of a game, I certainly will, because I believe that if you love gaming, and that if you play games a lot, then you should honor the good games that developers make by buying them new. If all of us gamers buy a lot of the great games out there, then there will be a lot less crap being shoved out the door by developers wanting to make a quick buck, but I digress. Bottom line, until people get more money to spend on luxuries such as games, used game sales are going to get better and better, and the only real thing that can be done to change it is for the world's economy to return to normal.

Do I think sales of used games are a problem? No, in fact, it is probably more beneficial than destructiv, giving new gamers or kids a chance to enter gaming is important. The problem is that the regular price for new games are too high, take me as an example. I make about 1400 $ a month, going to school and living at home with my mom, I still find it expensive buying new games for the price they offer. We have to buy new games at a price around 88$, now, that's alot for a game that might very well be worth just 40$.

And, as some others have mentioned, too few follow up on their games. It's not like I/we expect  a new mission every week, but new content is required to keep you on your toes and keep the game fresh and the hype around it big. If I were in my own heaven, games would be sold at a price reflecting the markets decision. Bad games go cheaper, and god games go for a higher price.

But still, the quality of the game does not reflect the spendage on it, Alone in the Dark probably cost big f*in figures to make, but Braid was around $100 000. Should Braid be sold at a higher price than AitD?

The original pricing is the big issue, atleast where I live.
