Hold on, hold on, put your torches and pitchforks down!
I have reasons people, Reasons! Or caveats...whatever.
Anyway, hear me out. My problem with Titanfall, more than perhaps any other, is a balancing issue. Sure, the giant mechs (Sorry, "Titans") are fun and all plus the mechanic of calling them in is sweet but I just can't seem to find a game where I'm playing anyone near my level.
I'll give you the most recent example - I installed the game and decided to play the campaign mode first. Obviously it is that in name only since we all know that it is just a collection of multiplayer maps where someone chats in the corner of the screen while you fight.
I can get past that part, no problem at all, but it all starts to fall apart once the teams were drawn up: Me and a bunch of other low level folks, the highest being a level six, against a team of people whose lowest level player was a thirty-five.
Players would leave and be replaced but it never changed the fact that we were matched against people well above my level every time. Even leaving and finding a new campaign game provided no escape from the beatdowns.
Was the game just trying to say that because we're playing as the Militia it should be harder for us? Perhaps, but it shattered my illusion of the story progressing when we lost every single game anyway.
Make no mistake, I like the concept of the game and it's overall design aesthetic, among other things (GIANT ROBOTS PUNCHING), but one way or another it turned into a big letdown for me.
You guys having fun with it, keep it up! Me though? I just don't want to get jumped kicked by level fifties anymore.
