@Rotnac : I know that discs SHOULDN'T spin once installed, but they still do ONLY when I eject them. For some reason the drive spins the discs when I press eject (either on the hardware or in game). When playing games, everything runs fine with no spinning. From the little info I could find on google it seems that some people report it only happening with certain discs, perhaps only if it is already scratched? I don't know, I'd rather not test that theory on my squeaky clean discs and just use the power-off eject method from now on :D Still I am curious as to what causes this! As it is a used console, there is always the possibility that the previous owner dropped or kicked it or something I guess.
The spinning discs on eject definitely sound like they are being scratched... which is why the games this seller included in the bundle are probably all slightly scratched. The copy of Gears 3 is the only one that has any problems reading though, and it wont even install plus has a grinding-esque/ strange sound when the game is running (the seller DID mention that this game did have some problems, and will popup an error after 3 or so matches). No biggie, the other games included- Black ops 2, Modern Warfare 3 and Resi 6 all installed and run fine, despite having a uniform circular scratch on each. All my old games install and run fine also, and glad I noticed the problem before ejecting my brand new copy of halo 4! I just need to remember to NEVER eject unless the system is off. This method so far has prevented any damage to my games. Definitely don't want to crack open my case and get a new drive right now, maybe in a few months if anything worsens.
On a side note, not that I necessarily have that much of an interest in playing Gears 3, but I am assuming all would be well if I used a different copy of the game to install to my HDD, then used mine every time I wanted to play?
I have been installing all my games but the discs still are spinning, even when I eject from the dashboard. I guess I'll have to eject from system off, a minor annoyance but that's the price I pay for only spending $130 on this bundle!
Really hope it isn't the disc drive dying but I really wouldn't mind spending a bit down the line to get it fixed (if possible) if I ever have to.
Just bought a used 250 gb slim (yea yea, it's USED), including 4 decent games, controllers and some extras for a really great price. I think I've realized why this seller priced it so low... the discs spin when they are ejected! This probably is why the games he included were slightly scratched. I did some google searches and didn't really find THAT much on this. I think I've decided on the solution to only eject a disc when the system is powered off... that way it is not spinning. Other than that this system seems to run just fine! Anyone else have this problem? If so did you find any fix for it?
I hear that new Level-5 table-top-like eshop rpg Crimson Shroud is pretty cool. Maybe get him some eshop monies and the recommendation?
And almost forgot to second Paper Mario: Sticker Star ! I'm getting my bro bro this for christmas. Haven't tried it yet, but honestly every other Mario rpg has been great fun, no matter who developed it- whether it be Intelligent systems or Alphadreams (or Square, der der). I have high hopes for this one as well!
I remember getting Mega Man along with my green game boy pocket for my 7th bday. Best present ever, even though I sucked at Mega Man and the game wasn't as awesome as the REAL Mega Man 1 for NES.
So after listening to newest coheed and cambria album I thought this would be a decent topic to bring up. I mean I absolutely loved coheed and cambria's first 2 albums and even there third one a bit but man have they shit the bed since. After listening to the newest album I feel I am done with this band at this point. Im glad I got to see them live back when they were still putting out creative music but fuck its a shame that this is what they have become. I know this is basically a thread with me raggin on the new coheed but I can think of some other examples. Take Foo Fighters for instance. Color and the shape was a fantastic album and I really enjoyed Theres nothing left to lose but man have their newest albums been underwhelming. Jesus even Blink 182. I loved dude ranch, enema of the state, and take off your pants and jacket was by far their best album but when I look at Neighbourhoods I feel like shitting myself. Lupe Fiasco is another example. His first 2 albums are my favorite rap albums ever made but then I look at lasers and his newest album and I cant help but feel disappointed. Anyways this is mostly just a thread for music lovers to vent about how their favorite bands "grew" into shit.
Don't completely agree about Coheed. I'm digging the Afterman... never got into Year of The Black Rainbow though. I don't know if I'd say it sucks, but I definitely don't care for it much- save for two or three tracks. I think the latest release has restored my faith in them though. BTW they are still that awesome band they were 10 years ago... I went to the Second Stage Turbine Blade full album show last year and they blew me away. Even the Year of the Black Rainbow songs were pretty kickass live.
Kinda feel the same about Blink 182. Loved Dude Ranch also (and not to mention Cheshire Cat). I thought the self titled album was pretty bad and can't think of a single song on there that I enjoy. But Neighborhoods... I thought it was decent! A big step up from the self titled but still no Take Off Your Pants.
But anyways, Green Day. I thought they went downhill after Warning. Although... I don't much care for Warning or Nimrod as full albums. Soo I guess they started going downhill after Insomniac?
