" @Insectecutor: your post was about matchmaking, which has everything to do with server-structure and the connectivity of the games in question the thread was about the fact that keyboard + mouse is faster and more accurate device for controlling FPSs, which is a clearly evident fact. when will console gamers learn that there are reasons we hold dedicated servers sacred? "
Not all gamers are going to accept that fact though. I don't see the need to try and force the fact onto them either. A lot of Console gamers are also PC gamers and understand why dedicated servers are a good thing. "
I'm not saying that k+m is preferable, more comfortable or better than controllers; the mouse simply provides a faster and more accurate way to point at things by design. In some ways k+m actually creates a rather boring experience, since everyone can (relatively) easily always get headshots.
If you have any empirical evidence that shows that an analog joystick can target things more accurately and faster than a mouse, by all means please share it. Please don't mind the rest of us either ignore it or poke holes in it though.

" Live has decent matchmaking systems designed to pair up players of equivalent skill. I'm pretty sure that system would still work the same way regardless of platform so I'm skeptical of this article and its "reliable sources". Assuming the article was true and console gamers do suck (hurr!), a PC gamer who consistently blows away console gamers would be less likely to get paired up with those guys in future if the matchmaking was effective. "
Keep your matchmaking and laggy ad-hoc games. I'll stick to my low-latency servers where no-one gets 'host advantage'. I'll also keep my sense of community and getting to know regulars.
" Sony and MS will want their motion technologies to stretch out their current generation for at least 3-4 years. Nintendo has little incentive to move to higher graphical standards, as they are doing fine and actually /making/ money on the consoles they sell. Aside from that, no one wants to make a console 2-3 years before the other party due to the failure of the DreamCast. "
The dreamcast landscape and this one are very different. The Wii has already proved you dont have to be the best graphically to win. An early release this time around can only be a boon imo. "
Sure, if you have a gimmick to go along with it that the others will decide isn't worth imitating. The Wii has a separate set of games from the other consoles, and if they're looking for the highly graphical, violent, misogynistic and vain market that is the other set then always being graphically inferior to competition is far from a boon.
