@Subject2Change: Really, I've seen lots of people recently getting over 50% increases with SLI/Crossfire with this generation of cards. AMD's cards have been getting nearly 90% in a lot of cases.

Scaling has improved a lot with the 500 and 6000 series cards. This of course depends on drivers and profiles for games, so obviously some things will not see much increase.

@oatz: Looking at an AnandTech review of a machine with a single 560M, it got in the solid thirties in a lot of games at 1080p, with some dips into the 20s.

I'd imagine you probably get maybe 80% better with SLI, maybe more, maybe less. It'd do alright right now, and should be decent for most games at 1080p for a year or two I'd say.

Maybe, I didn't buy in this generation.

My grandma got me a PS3 in 2007 in a Costco bundle, but I ended up returning it because I didn't open it after like 6 months. We also don't have an HDTV, so we may be something of an oddity.

I'd prefer to have a high end PC that I might replace every 2-3 years as needed that serves multiple purposes, rather than a dedicated piece of console hardware.

Thinking about buying basically what Jeff's new PC build he did with Tested is, but with an SSD instead of HDD, since I already have a 1TB HDD from before the prices went crazy. Need to see if I can talk mom into helping me out some right now, she's already said we need a new computer other than just my laptop.

Was looking at Cyberpower because of their deals for Black Friday, but looking at Amazon (no tax + Prime ftw) and Newegg, I could pretty much build it myself and still save money outside of the fact that Cyberpower would give me a copy of Just Cause 2 for free.

Also thinking I might grab a pair of HD 201/202 headphones since they're only $20 on Amazon.

Family as a whole might be looking to get a new TV, not sure, as we don't really watch a whole ton of TV, and my mom is fine with our ~8year old SD CRT TV

I'd buy this for a dollar.

Maybe.

@Barrock: Here's the Dell page for it.

No Caption Provided

I think it's pretty sexy. I don't know anyone who has one who doesn't absolutely love it.

The U2412 is slightly less sexy. It's all black matte plastic.

@Barrock: I'd get a new monitor.

I'd personally recommend the most often recommended monitor over on the Tested forums, the Dell U2410, or really any of the Dell U series IPS panels, as they're great all-around displays. The U2412 (slightly less awesome, less connection options/less amazing panel than 2410 for about $170 less) is similar in cost to a 570, if that's your budget.

Sometimes you just have to shoot some dudes, and I've found it's much better to do it online where you don't go to jail for doing so.

I think the repetition in games like FarmVille might be a big part of the draw of those games as well.

I kind of want a bed that is like a bunk bed, but with a desk on the bottom.

I don't think the ceiling in my room is high enough though, I'd probably end up hitting my head if I did.
