@vinny & everyone interested: i cannot recommend Table Top Simulator highly enough! It is an amazing thing that exists and surprisingly runs well on really old computers! I've found a good version of almost every board game I want to play on it and some of the more sophisticated games automate things, such as initiative order in Gloomhaven. I've been playing games on it with friends for years now.
I know this isn't gonna be helpful or change anyone's opinion , but I am so surprised a big crowd of people don't dig Doom Eternal. It's a near perfect fps at every angle I look at . Perfect pacing with nice light puzzles and platforming in between a perfect badass feeling combat loop , which gets tougher at a nice rate . Great bosses , beautiful scale , good linear exploration , very fitting metal soundtrack, surprising deep lore . Story's not perfect , but everything else easily makes up for it . This is a fudging vidya game !
FYI , I'm not a big fps guy either .
I agree, it's one of my favorite shooters of the generation. Up there with Halo 5 in terms of combat.
This site in particular seems to be quite negative on it.
Agree with both of you. I have some friends who loved 2016 but aren't digging Eternal either and I just can't really grasp why.
As I've got deeper in the game I have started to like the lore too...initially I thought it was super dumb they leaned into it to an almost annoying degree but a little over halfway through I now appreciate it?
@sethmode: agree totally. Some enemies are best tackled with certain weapons but if those weapons are out of ammo I can still hang and take care of business.
I think Doom Eternal is a really good riff on 2016. I'm pretty surprised by the takes on this episode. I don't know what 2016 game everyone else played but I was chainsawing and glory killing all the time in that one too.
