@stevevice: Yep, it sucks. Over the last 12 months of my Premium membership, I think there's been some form of video issue (Buffering, stuttering, rewinding, iOS/Safari playback, now ATV) consistently. I can't think of a single time I've sat down and gone "yep...all this works perfectly"

Access to 100% of the content 50% of the time...on 50% of your devices... :(

@stevevice: Set the quality in the Apple TV app to High rather than HD and it works. Either a bug or they've changed something with the encoding maybe? I dunno....

Trying to watch UPF tonight and it’s skip city.. We had the buffering issues last year that took months to fix, now this. Surely iOS as a platform must make up a pretty large portion of your user base?

Love GB & the content, but it does feel like I’m fighting to Actually watch it half the damn time...

Sooo I tried it yesterday and it was working. I tried several videos, old and new all with HTML on my Safari browser and it was working. Soooo not sure if that’s a coincidence or a fix was made but it’s working for me now so whoohoo.

This is working for me again on 10.14.4 with Safari 12.0.3. Looks like they've sorted it.

Another Safari user with same HTML5 problem. I get the same in my console with all videos set to HTML5. Progressive works fine.

On my iPhone if I full screen a video I get the native iOS video controls. (I.e. volume, full screen, etc). On my ipad (2018 model) I get the web controls still in full screen. This makes scrubbing the videos difficult as i have a couple of pixels of red progress bar at the top I must pixel perfect touch to move through the videos.

Exiting and entering full screen also appears to break if used too much. I presume the browser just isn’t being identified correctly (As you give proper iOS controls on iPhone) and something needs to be tweaked.

@rorie:

10 month old app with no updates.

Seems like the developer has dropped it. You don’t make it. It’s not a CBSi product.

No iPhone X screen support.

Bet it doesn’t support the newer site features like resume.

I appreciate you’re trying to placate us, but the fix should be simply ‘you guys make this work’.

Throw resource at it until you fix it. Escalate it. Put someone permanantly on it until it’s fixed. Stall the re-design. Stall GB Infinite. Buy iPhones/iPads to test on. Get bodies on this until you can fix it.

If you literally can’t fix it then:-

A) Seriously? Out of all the sites we stream from that use Akamai, CDNs etc, yours is the only one that cannot reliably deliver video to iOS? You can’t crack this? Come on...

B) Something need to be done for premium subscribers then when you can’t provide your service to the devices we need. This isn’t a niche case. This is you not being able to provide video to a platform that makes up nearly 50% of the smartphone OS market share in the US. this is insane that its going on for so long.

Even if this is you just holding your hands up and admitting you can’t support mobile video and dropping it. Developing your own app in house for iOS/Android & supporting it (even if it’s just for premium members) or dropping the premium price because you can’t give us consistent service.

I pay money for this. You. Need. To. Resolve. This.

This is still going on. Trying to watch anything on an iOS device is next to useless without downloading the actual video file instead. For a site that is based around video and the fact more and more people are watching stuff on mobile devices, this is crazy that it’s going on for so long. Sure We can download the file, stream the actual file, but then we’re missing out on the resume features of the site and having to jump through hoops. Let’s be honest. This should just work.

I’ve been a premium member since day one and followed you guys since the GS days. I pay because I love the content and the personalities, but boy you need to step up in regards to how you deliver it.

If this was any other content I was paying to consume I’d have cancelled by now with a problem like this persisting so long.

Whelp. I go away for a weekend and unplug from the net and come back to this garbage fire. Another GAF refugee here. Been on there for over 10 years and a GB subscriber since day one. GAF & GB are my gaming go to’s (Although never really bothered with the forums at GB before).

GAF and its community were great. I’ve got such good memories of that site and checked in every day on a variety of gaming and off topic subjects. Such a shame its ended How it has and I’m gobsmacked at how it’s turned out. I had no idea this stuff was going on.

For those who might still be encountering this, I've found that `giantbomb-vh.akamaihd.net` resolves differently on my mac vs my PC, even on the same connection.

On my mac I get a nearby IP that works just fine, on my PC I get placed in US-West (I live in England).

Overriding the IP lookup for `giantbomb-vh.akamaihd.net` helped me out.

I've just tried this. I was resolving to a US IP address. I logged onto the LINX Looking Glass server (LINX is a UK Internet Exchange) and pinged giant bomb-vh.akamaihd.net to see what that resolved as. It resolves to a euro IP. I've now edited my Host File and I'll see what results I get. I wonder if this is an issue with people getting pushed to the wrong regions. Could be because I use OpenDNS, but that is a worldwide service....like millions of people round the world would use GoogleDNS. but don't get identified as US users.
