@FauxNinja: EA has a review embargo on all sites from running reviews until day after release.

So they promise a new way to do games journalism and hire that asshole Ben Kuchera? Submitter of the most misguided PS3 hack post ever known who then decided to get into the comments and aggressively bemoan anyone who tried to point out the fact the article was blatantly unresearched link bait? Sure doesn't sound like a new way of doing things to me...

Also the same guy who constantly bullied the owner of gamejournos saying he was "glad" when the guy lost his job. Nice chap all round apparently...

GB works because I respect the staff, their writing/editorial stance and generally what they're trying to do.

Didn't like Bens work at Ars. Won't like his lead here. An asshole is an asshole, no matter what sites banner he flys under.

I get this as well over 5 Mb connection. Netflix streams high-definition with no problem. Are you in the states are you in Europe? I'm in the UK sometimes it is perfect some nights it is terrible but my bandwidth speed is the same.

HTML 5 always seems more greedy about the amount of buffer it needs compared to the native Flash player

Hey guys,

This has already been reported on several occasions. I've had the issue for months. Got a PM from Snide stating that disabling hardware acceleration (i.e. offloading the video to the GPU) on flash (right click the vid, settings, untick hardware acceleration). will fix it.

On OSX 10.7.2 the only way I can get this to work is on Chrome with acceleration off. Doesn't make a difference in safari, and HTML5 video is borked no matter what the browser.

Your battery life will suck, and your CPU temp will go through the roof if you're on a Macbook Pro, but the artifacts disappear. It only effects HD videos for me as well.

You can tell if you have this specific issue if the video is fine for around 18 mins, corrupted for 18 mins, then back to fine for 18 mins.

I hope this gets fixed soon, because I hate having to switch browsers for Whiskey content, and my Macbook sounds like a hovercraft if I'm watching a long video such as a TNT.

Have any of you guys got any issues with the difficulties, rookie and intermediate seem too easy, and professional and legendary are too hard, I find it tough to stay at a position I should be, like when I'm racing with virgin, on the first two difficulties I'm coming 1st or 2nd, but then as soon as I use the harder ones I just can't keep up what so ever. I dunno, I think they could have done more work on the scaling.

You got all the assists turned off? 20% races? I'm with Lotus and I find it much more challenging than F1 2010 when it comes to positioning in quail and racing

This has been going on for ages. It's super, super annoying.

On 10.7 in Safari or Chrome, HD videos on any Whiskey site always corrupt 18 minutes in, then are fine for 18 minutes, then corrupt for 18 minutes ad infinitum.

This happens with the HTML5 videos as well. The only way to fix it is to right click the video, and turn off hardware acceleration. Dave has PM'd people about this in the past asking them to do it as well, so it's known about.

Slightly annoying I guess it's some bug in the encoder stuff whiskey uses and flash? I dunno.... It happens with no other flash/HTML5 HD content of similar length that I ever watch.

the down-side to this "fix" is your Macbook will sound like a helicopter now as the CPU does all the handling of the flash video, and your battery life will go down the crapper, but the video does work...

Nice article, and good to see Monaco getting more coverage lately (in general, not on GB). Love the look of this since i saw coverage on tigsource about it at the IGF.

Maybe this isn't my place, but this much editorialising in a news article seems quite misplaced. I actually thought there was a pretty good showing coming out of this conference, although it was quite Japan-o-centric in some spots. Plus, I read on another website that 48 3DS games will be at the Tokyo Game Show, and given that Nintendo doesn't attend, that's healthy third-party support.

Playstation Vita is on the ropes now, and needs one hell of a TGS blow-out to have any chance of competing this holiday season. Especially if they stick to the price tag announced at E3.

It is a slightly argumentative headline to put in. I swear I thought Brad Nicholson wrote the piece for a second. I like what Patrick has done for GB news, but the snark could be toned down a notch on occasion.

I agree the press conference actually did a lot to turn around the 3DS with some good strong titles announced. Monster hunter isn't a western concern, but the other games sound neat.

I'm trying with xbmc and it's also not loading anything, just gets stuck on "loading directory"

Give it a while, it does seem that the initial "getting info" dialog takes an absolute age to complete. Plex is basically XBMC's cousin at this point, so it's probably the same thing. Go grab a beer, make a sammitch and get back to it in a while...

Got the Plex plugin installed on an OSX 10.6.8 box. Plex 9.3.4. It just hangs at "waiting for response" forever on any of the options (Featured video, reviews etc) Is this subscriber only? Is there somewhere I should be entering my membership information?

It's loaded, but took a good 5 mins to grab the content. Site access on mac and watching vids via http is still fine...

Will see if refreshes are faster maybe this is a pre-load first time thing?
