Hmm, for Steam that might do the trick. Thanks for the tip.

On Live I don't think re-adding will make a difference in my case as the game in question is still on my gamercard and I don't own an Xbox, so while reportedly you can remove history on XBox Live this does not appear to be possible in Games for Windows Live, confirming yet again that service truly  serves no purpose whatsoever.

I wonder if it would be possible to remove games from your achievements page?

The reason I ask is Steam and Windows Live have a habit of adding games to your list that you don't even own, just because there happened to be a free weekend once or whatever, or somebody else installed a game on the computer you were using. Maybe limiting the listing to games you've actually started playing would be good?

Now, I don't especially care about achievements one way or the other but I find the GB tracking system an amusing gadget and would like to NOT have games I don't know on there...

Yeah, that's a NO for so many legal reasons, plus the same reason they're not doing videos: bandwidth.

It would be nice though if there was a section for original and/or licensed soundtracks to put titles and other information which right now is generally being put on the main pages.

It's a lot less lengthy than the endurance run. It's more a brief series of articles chronicling RPS' adventures in Risen which they were tempted into trying having previously passed on the Gothic series.

@DJJoeJoe:  yeah, they've done similar things in the past, though they don't do series very often. But definitely if you dig through their archives they have some smart musings on all things PC gaming. They did a few interviews with Valve that were really interesting, which is the first of their stuff I read.... they're good at pointing out hidden gems too, especially indie games and games that were unjustly snubbed by the masses.

It would be nice if there was some way to easily line up a series of images. The three images on this page at the top of the Plot section used to be lined up horizontally before the change to the wiki-editor. Now it seems there's no way to put them back.

@Ertard: Hehe, fair enough. Personally I'm withholding judgement until I actually play it, but based on the first two Gothic games I'm optimistic. Are you going by the video footage they've shown or has the game already been released somewhere?

@Ertard: If names are all you're going by, then maybe. But you know what, in real life people are pretty lazy when it comes to naming locations. If they're on an island and there's only one "Big Swamp" they're not going to name it << insert generic fantasy gibberish here >> .

If you want to see a generic game, try Oblivion.

I wonder if you could replace the music files and burn a new CD, there were mp3s of the soundtrack floating around somewhere.

It remains a better open-world game than much more famous titles. The gameplay, story and world mesh perfectly and the way its NPCs react to you and their environment is only now beginning to be approached by current games.

It seamlessly combines action, adventure, light stealth and borrows its quest structure from RPGs (but without the leveling and statistics). Graphically it's obviously outdated though its unique art-direction and visual flair has made it age a lot better than most. The atmosphere is amazing. If you're a fan of games like Little Big Adventure, Beyond Good & Evil, or Gothic you owe it to yourself to play this.

This game deserves a re-release on Steam or GOG.

Helo: If you're looking for a similar experience I think RPGs are your best bet. Most open world 'adventures' today are content to throw you some emergent mechanics and then stick a story on in cutscenes. As far as specific suggestions, Gothic as mentioned above, and I think Deus Ex and Vampire Bloodlines also share certain elements with this game in how they manage to bring a world to life...
