Sentencing him to death might bring you a little bit of satisfaction for a very short period of time, but it won't bring you peace. It won't magically end the pain of losing someone you care about. You will still be mad. You will still hurt - and the guy to blame won't be around to blame anymore.
I can't imagine what the driver might be going through. Assuming he's remorseful, he will forever have to carry the wright of killing an innocent person. He will have to wake up every morning knowing he cannot go back in time and change things. He will replay the inescapable horror in his mind, over and over - eventually crippling him emotionally and mentally. He will constantly be reminded that he has taken away the chance for someone to go to school, fall in love, make an entire life for themselves. If the driver feels guilty, he's likely to suffer a lifetime of self-mental torture alone, not to mention how society will treat him. If you're absolutely sure you want vengeance, what you really want is to watch someone suffer - not die. Death would give them a release from their suffering.
In a perfect world, I think this man should have to commit the remainder of his life full-time to MADD and every other related organization. No leisure time or social life.
Yeah, the families of the 9/11 attacks are completely twisted up and not feeling any satisfaction now that the piece of shit formerly known as Osama is fish food. It's a stupid argument plain and simple.
i think he's already learned his lesson to look both ways before crossing a street.
God help me but I chuckled.

I never understood how you could reason for death penalty. If you want the person punished, if you want revenge, killing them is a fucking stupid way to do it. A couple of seconds and they're gone. If they're in prison they'll be tormented for years on end, especially if they're not psychotic in which case every human will be scarred with regret over what they have done.
If you're going for the "it's costing me money" standpoint...weeeell, then you're pretty much morally on par with Hitler or Stalin I'd say. Kill off the troublesome folk so the don't cost the ones we like money.
If someone ever killed anyone I loved, I'd want them in a cell where I could visit them every day and talk to them. Maybe one day I'd be able to forgive them, but until that day I'd want them in a box with me on the outside living my life.
The cost point is a false argument, as it costs more to kill somebody rather than just locking them up. It's revenge pure and simple, but some assholes just deserve to get got. I don't think so in this case but in more heinous crimes, convict them, set an execution date, and execute them. If there's compelling dna evidence/witnesses, eliminate the pos without the usual legal roadblocks.
@MordeaniisChaos: Your over looking one thing. All the while you and the other warriors are happy to pay there wages those that do steal continue to reap the benefits. For free. So really by paying for music, you are encouraging people to pirate. Shame on you.edit: Also I'm seeing no indication of the music industry being "fucked over" or going down the toilet or whatever. I'm listening to more music now than i ever have done.
What are you, fourteen? Fifteen?

@Toms115: Uh, no.When labels take a cut, the artist still receives money in the end.By stealing, you are ensuring that no one is receiving any money at all.
1. piracy isn't theft. 2. the difference between nothing and the amount a major label leaves you with is negligible enough to not even exist.
no it isn't, it's an infringement of copyrights. i'm not debating whether or not it's immoral, i'm simply saying that piracy isn't theft.
And your so hilariously wrong on that point that it's amazing you believe it with such conviction.
What do the pirates of the high seas do? They go out on their boats and steal shit from other boats.
What do internet pirates do? They go online and steal shit.
Here's a radical idea: the pointless bickering would stop if copyright law was finally fixed to stop copyrights and make music/books/tv/movies public domain after 20 years. Instead, every time a new technology is released: reel to reel, 8 track, cassette, cd, mp3 / vhs, dvd, blu ray, consumers are forced to buy essentially the same product over and over. If the music/movie was public domain, you'd be able to pick it up for $1-2, just enough to cover the actual cost of burning and packaging the item.
Haven't bought music whether it be iTunes or physical copy from a major label in a long ass time. The only MP3s/cds I buy are from independent artists directly from their websites or iTunes. I take the time to research, and if there's a label involved i just steal the shit. I do feel a little sorry for the artist, but there's no way a major label is ever going to get another penny of my money.

Why is it not ok to torrent music, but perfectly fine to torrent pornography?
