The problem with broad laws like this one is their selective enforcement When laws are so broad that virtually everyone you have ever met can be found guilty of them, they will generally be used to keep predetermined targets in check

I listen to a fair amount of gamer podcasts and think I agree, three in particular come to mind as lowering in quality.

I listen to weekend confirmed weekly and occasionally listen to Joystiq and podtoid (if my commute gets longer or I do some extra gym time.) and in my opinion weekend confirmed is going off the rails. When they were boozing up a few weeks back (I generally have no problem that crew boozing) it felt like no-one was actually listening to anyone else talk, this week it felt like that again in parts, and they weren't even drinking (to my knowledge). This Kinda crap is OK on occasion but not on a regular basis.

The problems with podtoid are many, and most of them aren't new but it feels as if its getting worse. Id stop listening completely but sometimes, just sometimes, that show is perfect and I get exactly what I want out of it, there is some character, it's "funny" and there is substantial games talk. For example Jim's discussion on Nintendo's regional policies about a month ago was fucking great, too bad the 30 minutes of decent content (sometimes, if that) is generally mashed in with an hour of total shit.

The problems with Joystiq are also many, but almost for the exact opposite reason as podtoid, none of those people seems interesting, the show is too newsy, I also feel as if they treat their listeners with some kind of contempt (eating chips while doing the show) I also haven't heard any opinions on that show worth a damn.

In addition to these issues both Podtoid and Joystiq use skype or some shit which seems to fuck up every single episode. How the fuck do CAGcast (who i also listen to pretty regularly and have yet to hear a serious drop put) do it?

it has t be a toss up between 3 games series

Street Fighter, a minimum of an hour a day after school (you know "generally" i had some breaks in there which probably get offset by weekend binges) for about 6 years.

Fallout, I played through the first two a fair amount played alot of Tactics and played 3 about 4 times, but then i played New Vegas and I have at least 4 characters at over 100+ hours, I intend to keep playing it at least once each year.

Or maybe Counterstrike, I played ALOT of counterstrike for about two years, we had a clan at work and used to stay after work to pay until 4am most nights, it didn't "stick" as long as the others, Its the only only one i don't play at all any more, but that period was all CS, all the time.

i had an Atari (i think it was a 2600) when I was very young. but I didnt really get into games until I got a SEGA SC-3000.

A SEGA made entry level computer
A SEGA made entry level computer

Which to this day no-one else apart me ever seems to have actually owned. It had some games I cant remember the names of, there was some kind of tank game that looked like ASCII and a space exploration game, I would play them for hours,

Then about two or three years later when I was about 7 or 8 I got a C64 and started to spend a lot of time at arcades. It was around this point I started devoting significant time to games and game "stuff" like magazines.

Assassins creed 3 I did all the boat stuff and really enjoyed it but the " regular" game was too janky the characters too dull, and the overarcing Desmond part seemed super padded.

I don't live In NY but I have been there a few times on holidays, what I found every single time is that there was always something on. There is always mid to high level comics in town, probably because they live there, great music in ok venues, good exhibits in the museums, and biggish events going on.

If you get desperate go to Caroline's or the cellar or the knitting factory/ new awesome music venue.and what's going on will be better than 80% of the rest of the entertainment options in the rest of the world.

@hurricaneivan29: halo didn't bring "online" anything there was no live at the release of halo in order to get that fucker to work you needed a game spy work around.

For my two cents halos greatness was the open area multiplayer with a decent controller that actually worked for fps on consoles co-op with a friend and vehicles.

Cod mw: firstly the modern part is really important I don't think many people are aware that most fps at the time were either ww2 or space shit....now it's almost the opposite, sure there were a few others bf2, I'm sure there were a few Tom Clancy games and counterstrike for example but not many and none that had a good single player story. Add in the persistent levelling mechanic in multi and the rock solid frames with great maps and you have a recipe for success.

I have adsl. No fibre for me for years, and my house is pretty far from the exchange so my speed is around 1.8 mb to 3.0 on a good day. A gig download usually takes about 2 hours.

On the plus side its only gone out like 3 times this year for more than 48 hours...I guess you can call that "stable".
