Related this this topic: I think it was a big mistake taking the couch away. That layout made it feel like you were hanging out in a room with friends.
Now it just feels like I’m watching a sanitary SportsCenter panel.
This change seems to be in line with many of the other changes that have been done, such as the new site layout, which seems to be receiving almost unanimously negativite reviews (for good reason perhaps.)
The magic of Giant Bomb was always the do-it-yourself attitude and relaxed nature of how the content was presented. This push towards polish is sadly destroying what made the site great.
People usually don’t understand how great their idea is until they try to improve upon it needlessly.
