The Operative: No One Lives Forever

No One Lives Forever 2: A Spy in H.A.R.M.'s Way

They are abandonware now due to licensing issues. They are not totally forgotten, as there is a fansite out there that did the work of making a custom installer that enables them to run on modern systems--but without those custom installers they are also really difficult to get working on modern systems in addition to being abandonware. They were some of my favorite games at the time, and I think both games hold up surprisingly well. They are also kind of secretly immersive sims: there are tons of gadgets and environmental interactions, and an emphasis on stealth iirc. I don't know how well the humor holds up, but I also remember them being rare games that attempt humor and succeed.

Pixel remasters seem great. My biggest nitpick with the pixel remasters is that there's no option to play with the original soundtracks. The orchestral soundtracks are great, but I miss the chiptunes at times, especially with the chiptune banjo overworld music in FFVI. For as nostalgia focused as they seem, there should be an option to play with the original music.

All Rhythm games, but especially Rhythm Heaven. My reaction time is just too slow.

Fighting games or any games where I have to memorize a bunch of button combos, like Devil May Cry.

Sekiro Shadows Die Twice. I keep trying to get into Sekiro, but my reaction times are just too slow be overcome the challenges presented by the parry system. This is the one that genuinely frustrates me because the issue could be solves easily with accessibility options or a difficulty setting for people whose bodies cannot react in time.

The Castlevania games, especially symphony of the night and the ones on handheld, Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow, etc. I also remember the Metroid Prime games having lots of bosses, but I might be misremembering there. Final Fantasy XII if you count the hunts, though those can either be really easy or really difficult depending on what level you choose to tackle them at.
