Based on collectible tracking, I'm about 2/3rds of the way through and really loving everything about it so far. I am already a pretty big DONTNOD fan, and seeing them step out of their usual game style and completely nail it has me even more excited for what they could do next.

I've tried to play this on two separate occasions and both times I only got about half way through. I think the art style and music are both top notch, but not much carried me forward from beat to beat. This second time I even tried to just mainline it instead of exploring since it seems like the stuff you'd find is not important to progress. But it was just kind of boring to play, especially since I've been playing Super Mario Bros Wonder.

But I did end up watching a speed run of it on GDQ this weekend. There weren't any major skips and just watching the game in motion and listening to the soundtrack made me understand the love of the game a little more. I just think it is a little boring to play.

All in all, I still think it's worth checking out even if it didn't grab my attention. If you just need a light platformer with an interesting art style and excellent soundtrack, which I know is a very common genre nowadays, but the art style really is beautiful as more color gets added.

@bigsocrates: I should chime in on Gris. I just haven't been compelled to go back to it after playing thirty or so minutes.

But I hear ya, it's always a bummer to see the voting pages get more comments than the discussions.

I know it's against company policy, but I was just heading over to nominate Jusant for the next poll and was wondering if you would make an exception and add it to the list?

If so, my votes would be:

1. Jusant

2. Cocoon

And if Jusant has to wait to be added to the next one my 3rd choice would be Venba.

I use the 8bitdo sn30 pro to play almost any 2d platformer nowadays. I love it. But I also play SMB Wonder with the joycons while playing handheld and don't think you're really missing out on THAT much. I just prefer the Super Nintendo controller because it's what I grew up using.

@shindig: the 2d sections in Odyssey make me think that they could definitely make a full 2d game with those moves & physics, though. And I was expecting that this game would feel more like those sections than a traditional 2d Mario game. I'm not upset I was wrong, just surprised.

Played through the first two worlds with my partner today and I'm heading back in now to get the collectibles we've missed. I'm loving everything about it so far. The chaos that the wonder fruit creates is similar to the feel of playing WarioWare where you just never know what could happen and how you'll be asked to react.

I am disappointed that the Yoshis are invincible and can't gain the power ups. I understand why you'd want to offer invincible characters for those who would like it, but to negate the power up's abilities creates this weird instance where the player just isn't going to see what feels like 50% of the content of the game.
