@teddie:Oh, hey, it does, and so does VinnyVania, so bad example. I guess I hadn't checked since MGS 1/2 when that wasn't there or whatever :D

Still, point stands, I agree with you. It should look a bit like a Youtube channel list with just a bunch of thumbnailed playlists per subject. I mean, in many ways the GB Youtube channel is easier to browse than the site:

Yes. Just in general the content of the site has evolved but its structure hasn't, so it's due for a rejiggering. I mean, why do ERs have a hub but Metal Gear Scanlon doesn't? Why are all the podcasts that are not on a set schedule just jumbled together? That kind of thing. At this point I feel the site needs a "latest" stream like it has now, but then just a list of "shows" that you can check out, whether they're video, audio, text or whatever. If I'm not here just keeping up with the latest I'm here looking for stuff that is multi-part, either to catch up or to see an archive. The site could cater to that use case way more.

@spaceinsomniac:This. I don't think I've pressed those buttons in months, I always turn the thing on and off and eject discs from the controller.

But actually, no, when I do use them (say, to eject a movie that was left in the thing while it's off) I never have to think about it. The button that is physically touching the drive is eject, the one that is physically touching the power LED is power.

Now, the dumb capacitive power button on the Xbox? I've turned that thing on and off accidentally with absurd parts of my body, including my butt, my knee and on occasion with inanimate objects. I know people who have taped over it just to avoid this.

@mirado: I did that too. It's a reflex from board wargames where overwatch is not a thing. You take your worst shots first in case you luck out and can use your good shots on a different target.

The interesting thing is it devalues overwatch. Unless you know what the AI is going to do that boost in aim is more valuable than the AI choosing your target for you. I was already using it only for ambushes in conceal or on incoming reinforcements. Now I know why.

Huh. I actually thought this was less modified, based on how many bullshit 75% shots go awry.

This is generally just good game balancing, although it encourages specific playstyles (namely, gang up on an enemy and keep shooting until it goes down) versus others (go for highly secure one shots across multiple enemies). That could have been achieved by giving you a boost to aim the higher your base chance is (so 80+ turns into 100 and 75+ turns into 90 and so on. It would have generated less "FUCK!" moments as you miss easy shots, though, for better or for worse.

In a way I'm a bit sorry I read this. Now I know that playing on anything up to Commander it's actually in your interest to get bad shots done before your killshot to trigger the gang up bonus. Makes Lightning Hands even more relevant, as it's not just giving you a free shot, it's also giving you a Marked-style aim bonus on your actual sniper shot if you miss. I can't un-know this, so now I have an extra cheese tool.

This thing sounds like a particularly intricate Dragon Ball Z powering up sequence.

Yep, these are great. Not sure why they aren't featured more prominently. It really helps me understand how much of their ongoing crashing and burning is down to design and how much to piloting and navigation. There's always a moment in every episode when I think they're making sense and then Vinny gets a crazy idea, so these tell me if he was right or not (because their flying sure doesn't).

Just reading this sentence makes me giggle.

I downloaded this game, and it's a smooth 30 all the way through. I don't recognize what the OP is saying on my experience. I'm playing on a downloadable version and my Wii U doesn't seem to have any issues with other games, for what it's worth. There's a ton of pop-in and visible LOD transition in the game, but framerate seems rock solid and I have no issues handling the camera.

Also, goddamn, this game is really good. Low key combat, low stakes death, just a good thing to roam around for a couple of hours while listening to a podcast or something. It's an MMO for antisocial people, which suits me just fine.

Question for those more savvy than me. Does Lupe Fiasco know he gave himself a girl's name? Like, literally a reference to the Virgin Mary? Like, this guy literally called himself "Mary Disaster"? Which is actually a cool name for a female jazz fusion band, but not so much for literally anything else?
