Super Smash Bros. Melee. It's been a landmark year for its growth as an eSport and also my growth as a player. God damn that game has a steep learning curve but it's so rewarding.
This looks essentially like a somewhat simplified "real Animal Crossing game" except you run a camp as opposed to running a town. For what it is, it looks fantastic.
Playing the Witcher 3 on PC. I am having an absolute blast!
If you don't have the DLC's, I can't recommend them enough. Sunk 150hrs into that game playing through all of it with my wife, what an unforgettable experience.
Currently trying to 100% Hollow Knight, if you've played it and you've gotten to the Trial of the Fool (optional area), you know how frustrating my life currently is. My gaming sessions consist of attempting the trial three times, getting frustrated, then playing No Man's Sky to cool down. NMS is really cool now, btw. Coming from someone who bounced off of it immediately upon release.
I will never, ever let myself get that excited for a video game again. My expectations couldn't possibly have been met, but the fact that the game was disappointing even without any preconceived expectations did not help. I didn't realize until 70 hrs in the true, crushing disappointment that that game was.
I mean, it's a pretty great open world shooter with some goofy characters and cool settings. But the spark of inspiration that fueled 3 and NV was almost completely gone. The quests were boring. The RPG elements were nerfed to hell, and they arguably weren't even that complex to begin with in the older games. Just, ughhhhhhh. Makes me sad just thinking about it. Luckily, Witcher 3 also came out that year and more than made up for it.
