That PC should only cost about £1k give or take a bit, I suggest you check out some cheap online stores like ebuyer.com or aria.co.uk. 
 
I'm soon going to be building a similar system myself, but I'm waiting for the latest GPU releases which should be happening soon, if you want your system to last longer, I suggest you do the same thing. 
 
2011 is looking like a brilliant year for the PC gamer. 

I'm getting back into PC gaming now, but waiting for the next generation of cards to be released before I do so.

I think that since we aren't likely to be seeing new consoles for a very long time(possibly five years), I think we could soon see a lot of gamers like myself returning to the PC in the near future. Even recently Microsoft seem to have realised this and are refocusing on PC gaming, something they have not done in a long time. Personally, I'm waiting for the next wave of high end video cards to be released before jumping back in. PC gamers have titles such as Crysis 2, Rage, The Witcher 2 and Dragon Age 2 around the corner and the console versions will be a much poorer experience indeed. It could be that many console players aren't even aware of the capabilities of a modern PC.

So when is the  Radeon HD 6990 supposed to be released?

Just forget about the game until the issues have been resolved, it's just not worth the frustration.
