OldManLight's Best of 2017

Greetings Duders! Another year of games in the books so i thought i'd share what i've been spending my time with the most this year.

List items

  • This is probably a peculiar pick for my top spot but i can't think of another game i played as much of or had as good of a time with this year besides "Clance's Cocaine Mountain". The game has its problems for sure but the open world nature of the game combined with the solid shooting and light tactical elements mimics Metal Gear Solid V's gameplay just enough that i'm willing to overlook the bad voice acting and horrible dialogue that infests this otherwise great open world shooter.

  • Holy crap. I do love what they've done with BJ Blaskowitz and his supporting cast. Some genuinely uncomfortable moments mixed with some hilarious laugh out loud ones punctuate an otherwise solid shooter. Plus it looks beautiful thanks to Doom (2016)'s IDTech6 engine.

  • I love metroid games and if you told me before this summer that i'd have a reason to dust off my 2ds this year i'd have laughed in your face after i finished crying tears of joy for a new metroid.

  • Yes this game is old but it's "new to me" so it goes on the list. Link to the Past is maybe my favorite game of all time so a remake/reimagining of it was something i wasn't sure i wanted but i finally checked it out this year and couldn't put it down.

  • Call of Duty really bummed me out last year so i went looking for a competitive shooter to fill the void and i landed on this charming as hell game. I love it, my kids love it. They know the entire roster and always hang out with me when i play.

  • I can't quit you rocket league

  • It hit 1.0 on the PC today so i'm including it. It's janky, frustrating, chaotic, stressful, and has probably shaved years off my life while playing it but it's so unique, you have to try it for yourself.

  • Beautiful Game, intriguing setting, makes a huge case for there being plenty of life left in my base PS4.

  • Another old 3ds game that i finally got around to.

  • Hey guys, i finally finished Arkham Knight and i 100%'d it so it goes on the list. I initially bounced off of this because of how overwhelming the open world felt then i played Shadow of War and Arkham Knight felt managable by comparison.

  • I love Uncharted's story telling and more of it is always a good thing.

  • So torn on this. Is it wrong to include a game that you played obsessively for less than a month and then put it down because you ran out of stuff to do? What about if you then buy it again on PC so you have the "better version?" this game is just another skinner box wrapped inside of a very competent shooter. Even with the fact that it may as well have been designed in a lab trying to mind control you into throwing money at its publisher...(Sigh)...Here's your stupid spot on the List Destiny 2 (choke on it)
