Phil Fish is the Kanye West of video games.

This is being quoted a lot, and it's a perfect compliment to one of the major bullet points in the video. I don't care for celebrities in general. I don't partake in the occasional gossip threads that pop up here and I couldn't name one song Kanye has released in the past five years without a google search. All I know is that he's a person who makes music and probably loves his mother, and an appropriate response from me may as well be "Who the hell is Kanye West?"

Phil Fish is the Kanye West of video games.

When people type something along these lines they may be using their names, but they aren't talking about the actual human beings that likely love puppies and kittens. When you have people disconnect their name from their individuality in such a way, you end up with these kinds of situations. Is your judgement of these two people your own? Or the one that the media cherry-picks every time they stumble across the wrong line?

There are shitty human beings out there; but that should be for you to have the misfortune of finding out yourself. This one-sided mass media twitter copy-pasting is as juvenile as a grade school rumor that the new kid has cooties. I'm not going to shame people for partaking in such exchanges of information; Phil Fish said "They suck" once and it was impossible to go to a video game related website without it being headline news. Just make sure the opinions you form in response are your own.

Shutdown; I really don't notice the ~20 seconds it takes for a fresh start. When it's time for me to turn it off that console it's going to stay off for at least 16 hours before it's used again (excluding weekends). When compared to standby mode that sort of power draw adds up and I would rather keep that money in my pocket.

Soul Sacrifice Delta is the best Action RPG available on the system right now, overtaking even Ys: Memories of Celceta. Though the majority of it's entertainment value comes from online play. If you prefer single player games you won't get as much pleasure out of it; something to take into consideration.

I used it to change my avatar to the one I use here.

Interestingly though, the change didn't carry over to my Vita, which continues to display my old avatar.

The Vita aints gots no real names requests. The PSN service on that device is in some PS3 to PS4 purgatory that's leaning more on the PS3 side, which is a bummer since I find that it's far easier to make social connections on the Vita.

It's a long title, but it feeds you the information you need.

Changing your "Real" avatar just became a lot more accessible. The "Playstation app" available on iOS and Android devices recently received a major update that lets you upload an image saved on your mobile device and use it as the avatar others will see if they've accepted your "Real Name Request".

Where do you go from here? Are you going to use an image from your favorite show? Put up a pic of your pet? Or maybe use that photo of Drew sporting that knowing grin to greet your friends?

Have a great weekend.

The hard mode version takes a bit of coordination, but it's the only way to get the 1000 points that will net you the highest reward tier when the event finishes. I'm more than happy to help anyone going for it, just send me a PSN message and I'll bluntly tell you if I'm good to go or not.

I can use Trinity to constantly keep the relay core moving, or have Frost create a path of Snow Globes to prevent stray bullets from hitting the core and mucking up your high score attempts.

Of course, the 1000 point tier is just a decorative badge that serves no purpose. But it's a very shiny decorative badge. The following reward tier of 500 is much easier to get if you want a fancy gun and don't want to stress over nailing down a hard mode strategy.

If you have no idea what I'm babbling about then it's about time you hopped back in for a little bit.

Servers are back up, clearly all credit goes to my internet bitching. Add Mind_Less to your in-game friends list (separate from your actual PSN list) whenever you get around to downloading it. It's found in the "Option" tab under "search", because putting that feature in the "Friends" tab of the menu made to much damn sense.

The raid boss is active too, and I can see that this'll be where the whole Free-to-play thing starts to really kick in, there are several bosses that have a timer on them before they "escape", you'll get good rewards for killing several of them, but of course; boss fights are the most taxing on your team, so you'll be putting your vita to rest more often or be using destiny orbs to keep going.

You could rent spirits in the beta yeah. If you rent out a spirit you got some in game currency for doing so. I remember in the beta I managed to friend someone who had a really powerful creature that was very cheap to rent and it pretty much solo'd a large chunk of some areas.

I haven't tried it again now that it's officially out. The beta was ok, but there was no real tactical element in the battle and I was finding myself spending most of the game in menus.

It suffers from the issue that ails too many JRPGs: they take it way too easy on the the player for the first few hours. You can literally enter a battle, put down your vita and come back to a victory screen. It does get better though; down the line enemies are higher in level (as you would expect) and they come in waves of three or four, making focus fire and bringing the right elements more important.

Not that a better game down the line excuses a dull start, but I'm at a point where I'm enjoying the time I can play before needing to stop and let my best spirits recover. Now if they could finish up with this server maintenance, that'd be great. I know I'm in the minority that's up and playing video games at this hour; but this is a pretty serious inconvenience.

I enjoyed the beta. It kind of reminds me of a more JRPG take on the mobile game Blood Brothers, with better online connectivity and more location based stuff.

I'm kind of waiting until there's more information around the starting choices, as in most games in this vein, starting with some creatures could really mess you over. I'm worried that will be the case here, so I'll give it a week.

I never played the beta, but did it not have the renting feature?

They give 30 destiny orbs upon completing a short in-game survey after the tutorial. Enough to summon one guaranteed rare, or you can hoard those orbs if you'd like and hope that the game gives you a rare through regular summoning. Either way your starting spirits are totally random; but on the other hand you can "rent" the leader spirits from people on your friends list using the in-game currency awarded after battles, so you really never run into that issue even if you have the worst of luck. If you've somehow wound up with 20 fire-type spirits you can just borrow an earth spirit to shore up your weakness to water.

I'm enjoying the game; the micro transactions seem to be pure luxuries for the time being, and I'm hoping they stay that way in the high level content so long as you play tactfully. I really think they're onto something with the Active Time Battle system. It adds a nice little layer of activity as you focus on who's attacking next and using your skills to hamstring enemies right before their time gauge fills. At the same time, there isn't enough to it to keep me seriously invested for months to come like other hunter/rancher games can. It's a solid first product though, I hope they expand on it.

Though honestly; getting the guardian to the underworld as my first rare probably incentivized me to stay a little longer than others may have.

I'm curious as to what everyone's first rare is; do you feel that lady luck handed you a Charizard, or a Bidoof?

@omegapirate: I, uh, probably should have tried that first, in retrospect...

I'm hopping on in a little bit; if there are any night owls that want to hang out. I'm trying to unlock every single boss so that I can help people get the Warframe of their dreams*.

*Vauban and Banshee probably shouldn't be in your dreams, their components are based on luck of the draw on Alert rewards, and it'll take quite a while to piece them together.

There's a holiday sale on platinum, but it's worth reminding everyone that platinum is a pure luxury; the only things in that marketplace that you can't get from playing the game normally are color palettes and decorative accessories. If you want to spoil yourself and get that gun early, more power to ya, just spend responsibly!
