The main quest is interesting revolving around a rivalry that takes place in the island. The story is unrelated to the setting which made the plot seem disconnected with other events happening on the island. You would expect to find out more about the tribes and locals of Point Lookout by completing the main quest but instead you go on this tangent plot line of characters that migth as well have inhabited the Wasteland. More than a game, Mass Effect is an experience. Upon playing this game it suddenly dawned on me that while I was having fun playing it, as I would any normal game, I was actually getting involved in a whole other level.
