@dwerkmd: Duder, having a baby in this pandemic is an other worldly experience. I have kids similar in age to Jeff’s and my daughter was born right before the pandemic. I still haven’t recovered from the sleep deprivation.
Forza Horizon is one of my top games of all time and the original may be my favorite still. I loved the music and vibe the most. If it had some of the quality of life improvements of the newer entries it just might be the perfect game. I agree it had such a good feeling at a bright fun time in an era when grim dark ruled the consoles. What a fantastic game!
I’ve only been re-watching old content (like early years), with the exception of The Old Games Show, for the last year or so. I keep my sub because those early days soothe my soul and harken back to a good time in my life that happened to coincide with the good times at early GB. I may keep the sub for a while yet. And I wish the staff the best on whatever direction they take things. Jan is the man! But, GB just isn’t for me anymore. I’ll probably still listen to the bombcast while I clean on the weekends, but it’s no longer a highlight of my week.
I prefer VA panels for my gaming office due to the OLED issues. I sit directly in front of my tv when gaming. I’d definitely get an OLED for the living room for watching movies with the family. But if your use varies content supposedly OLEDs are okay.
Very nice piece. I sank more than my fair share of time into this game. I can still hear the map music in my head when I think about it. This blog made me incredibly nostalgic and sad that they just don’t make these anymore.
Thankfully this hasn’t happened to me. My wife and I work out our hobby time as she doesn’t really play games outside of the occasional Mario Kart or Party. She also has hobbies that aren’t my thing. So far we have reached a good balance, though it’s tough finding any time when you have young kids. I do play far less than I did when I was single, but the balance is good and worth it.
