This was a really disappointing show.

They barely gave us any new Mass Effect footage.  No play-through, no discussion of new features...let down.  Where was Assassin's Creed?  Where was Battlefield?  The new games they announced were hardly worth the expense of putting on the conference.  Another fighting game?  Joy.  Little girls?  Hooray.

EA sucked miserably.

edit: APB's appearance was a pleasant event, but other than that...just a weak conference, given that we didn't learn much more than we already knew.

It really depends on what business you're in, and why you're handing out the cards.  If it's at all gaming related, and I'm sure it is if you're handing them out at e3, then yeah, sounds fine to me.  Don't worry about psn/wii stuff--just because you prefer xboxlive doesn't mean you're trying to push an agenda or anything.  I think people will get that.

I seriously doubt that MGS4 will ever work it's way over to the xbox.  Think about it; the playstation 2 dominated the previous console market, so it wasn't a huge blow to sony when MGS2 went on over to the xbox--sony had had it forever anyway, so anyone who really really wanted it had already bought it for playstation.  But this generation of consoles is different; the PS3 is losing to the 360.  If Sony were to give up their crown jewel it would be a huge blow to the PS3's overall value.

Also, in case anyone hasn't noticed, MGS3 is still a PS2 exclusive.  And it will remain so for the rest of time.

I had an ipod for maybe a year before lightly dropping it on some carpet--nuking the hard drive.  I picked up a zune30 as my replacement (before the second line of zunes were released) and I have to say...I prefer the zune.  I like the UI waay better.  Don't get me wrong, the ipod is a smooth piece of hardware, but the zune is great.  It has a built in radio, built in wifi (something the classic ipod doesn't have), and has proven time and time again to be far more durable than my twice-replaced ipod ever was.  The software is crap, but then so is itunes in my opinion.

As for the zune hd?  It looks great.  There's a video of it being demo'd on gizmodo if you feel like seeing it in action and while I obviously haven't used one it looks like it could hold it's own against the ipod touch any day of the week.  Plus it'll have video-out in 720p, something the touch can't even dream of doing.  If you take a look at the back panel, the screws are exposed in such a way that it looks like the battery will be user replaceable.  Again, that's something Apple has refused to let customers do with the touch.

It's entirely possible that the thing will blow, but I have very, very high hopes for it.

edit: Also, the zunehd is going to have HD radio.  Cool stuff.

Microwaving Moon Pies > Watching widescreen movies at 4:3 resolution?

On a similar note, has anyone ever microwaved a Pop Tart? I'm thinking about doing so within the next few minutes.

Guys, I love moonpies.  But some things do not improve under the influence of microwaving, and I feel like moonpies are one of them.  You're taking a perfectly good moonpie and fundamentally altering its taste and texture!  The designers of the moonpie never accounted for such atrocities.

And to all of the moonpie haters posting here--go buy yourself one and eat it.  As long as you can ignore total absence of nutritional value, I think you'll find that you enjoy it more than you remember.

I feel like GTA4 is an easy game for the mainstream to like (once they get passed the violence and hookers and whatnot).  When compared to others in its industry, GTA4 has a very high-quality story, and a whole slew of satirical set-pieces.  It's one of the closest things to art in video games.

Just my opinion though.
