If Bethesda make another Elder Scrolls but-with-guns game and Obsidian uses that tech to make another modern day Fallout game, I'd be pretty happy. I just hope that they finally make a game that feels different to what they've been doing for the past decade. Whether it's down to gamebryo or whatever I don't pretend to know, but if I can Oblivion-hop up mountains in FO4, I will be pissed.
@face15: What resolution/frame rate are you intending to run games at? The 980 is in sort of an awkward position, where at 1080p/60fps, you're not going to see any real difference over a 970, and at anything more than that, you get much more use out of SLI 970s for not a lot more cash (see here for an in depth look at the difference).
That's the case here anyway, I know pricing might be different in other markets. Still worth considering though.
Warihay: I haven't heard of a console version coming but I would not rule it out. For one thing this game would be absolutely perfect on consoles in my opinion (not that it isn't perfect on PC, it IS!). For another, if you look at comments on articles and videos (google "grow home" to find these) and search various forums for comments on the game there are loads of people wanting this for console.
I wish this was how it worked. Red Dead for PC would've been out long ago if it was!
@jaqen_hghar: I feel pretty much exactly as you've described. I don't think confronting Molyneux is necessarily unreasonable, but that interview does make it seem like John Walker was primarily looking to get some sick burns in on a man who really couldn't be at a lower point in his career.
And really, if you knew anything about the history of Peter Molyneux and anything about the nature of Kickstarter, but donated anyway and are now surprised and angry at how things have gone, you might be an idiot.
I feel like I'm going insane. I thought it was bad when studios were releasing annual iterations on the same tired franchises, but now they're literally releasing the same games all over again and everyone's acting like it's not bullshit.
Remember ~06-07 when major studios were taking risks and putting out new IPs with fresh ideas? That was pretty good. I liked that a lot more.
Now to business. Your first Community Assignment (this is a thing all CBSi employees do, in case they skipped it at induction) is to find out once and for all if Dan is for real.
@toots: Actually, there's some evidence to suggest that caffeine helps reduce the risk of brain tumours. The amount of sugar in a typical western diet is incredibly unhealthy though, and cutting out energy drinks and sodas is a good way to reduce your sugar intake dramatically.
Everyone should just drink coffee, basically. It's great!
@hurricaneivan29: That was true ten, or even five years ago. Not so much now. PC ports of traditionally console based games used to be, for the most part, broken, poorly optimised, overall low effort affairs, but that seems to have peaked around the mid to late 00s. Steam has done a lot to prove to publishers that the PC is a viable platform if you put the effort into it. Sure a lot of PC games in recent memory have been broken at launch and sometimes for a while beyond that, but nowadays when that's the case, the console versions also tend to be a mess. Hooray for progress! (I think?)
Also, the fact that the new consoles are far more like PCs than their predecessors seems to bode well for the future. Dark Souls 2, Dragon Age Inquisition, and Far Cry 4 all had the PC as a lead platform for development, for example. You just weren't seeing that not so long ago.
