When using Chrome, using the Download link for a video plays the video, it's necessary to right-click on the quality setting and save the video. Could you set the Content-Disposition header on your MP4 files so they can be downloaded with a plain old left click?
@MrKlorox: That seems like a better idea, actually... I wasn't sure what would happen when you went to a page with a quest component, however, since they set a QUEST_NOTIFICATIONS array (which might reference a non-existent type if the Quests js isn't loaded.)
I just came back to update the list of items to block which will also eradicate the notifications:
@TheBeast: are Top Men looking at this issue at all? If it's a bug with the site then they should definitely fix it, dev release or not - otherwise when 7 goes Stable it could cause all Chrome users to be unable to see the site correctly. As I mentioned in my previous post it looks like the Opacity style on the div isn't being set correctly.
I've logged the issue with the Chromium team, too, in case it is a Chrome bug.If it's a site bug then it should be fairly easy for one of the GB devs to see what's going wrong since they just need to set up a breakpoint where the new tab content's being faded in.
If you feel strongly about it then you can add a custom block rules to your browser (e.g. with adblock) using the following rule to eliminate the quest box on the front page:
Chrome seems to load the content, lay out the page but does not display the content. Tab content div appears to have "Opacity: 0" specified (as seen through Elements pane of Dev Tools):
