The time for the beta of Star Trek Online is over. And boy what a ride it was. I'm not a Star Trek fan, heck I know maybe a fraction of the stuff you should know. Though I had great fun. It felt genuinely different to play this game compared to WoW.
Where are them Klingons?! We were told there was going to be a Klingon assault on Federation installations so we assembled in the galaxy map, outside Deepspace K7, prepared to head wherever they went. Unfortunately this turned out to be a hoax! Small forces of Klingon warped into large fleets of Federation vessels and were quickly annihilated until it was sunk into nothing more than a tragic sight. That was until we were attacked by.. The Borg!
The cubes gathered in sector space and the Space stations were invaded with drones. They were everywhere and were faced with every brave man, woman and space fish that the Federation could muster. So what did the Space Neon Lobster fleet do? Why we waited at the Admiral's office for Brad, AKA Frigth. (turned out Brad had gone home to play "that other space game" so Frigth were /emote danced by Jeff instead)
When he arrived we were dancing, naturally.. Also, we did a nice lineup and saluted for a moment until a Klingon created pandemonium.
So we quickly went back to dancing!
The Borg are waiting downstairs, pep dance time! We then took it back down to the Spacedock, fighting valiantly to protect earth from the attackers! Grenades were flying, phasers fired and men were doing the running man. It was madness. I'm pretty confident I saw a Klingon run by yelling exactly that, in Klingon of course...
After that we fought the final minutes of the beta in space, it was harsh fending off probes, spheres and cubes and the likes the Borg tossed at us. The smaller ships were unfortunately taking a beating from even the smallest Borg vessels but everyone did an awesome part to create great balls of green fire. What Cubes?! The beta ended at 6pm PST and we were thanked by Cryptic for our work. Despite the botched Klingon invasion, it was overall a great experience! So it's with heavy heart that I leave my character behind, drifting away in Beta space. It was two good weeks. Sweden looks lovely from orbit. Earth is once more safe, for now. Who knows what's in store for the future. I'm really curious about what Crytpic has planned for the endgame content and I'm definitely there on Friday to start this over again. Also.. if I had 300 bucks laying around.. I would have totally bought the Life Time Subscription.
Thanks to Space Neon Lobsters for letting me join at the last day and it was great fun to experience the end together. I hope to see some of you again on Friday! This is Captain Frederik Sinclair of the USS Moreau. End of Log.
Imagine USS Moreau going into warp and end credits playing.

You were up there at the balcony? I didn't realise that, I guess I was too busy fighting being amazed at the number of Borgs that were trying to slaughter us up there. =P

Yeah, my character is called Axel. We were on the same team if I remember correctly. You're elana@iamoscarmike, right?
@Meteora: Yep. I had one of them personal shields that kept knocking borgies to the ground everytime one struck me. Useful for protection but I kept getting aggro from them... <.< Captain level shield did keep me alive for a lot longer though, even if it would have been good to have my trusted away team there to help!

Oh, wait. Meteora was replying to your topic. Please forgive my intrusion. :P
Oh before I forget! I invited several dudes to dance on my bridge. Naturally I forgot to take screenshots of this awesome thing. If anyone snapped some, please post them. I would love to see them. :3
@Legend: Yeah that's totally me, Captain Elana of the infamous USS Oscar Mike. xD Oh and no beggies on the intrusion, I wouldn't have known you were Axel if you didn't respond to me. Weren't you the sole guy who kept on fighting while we all partied in the admiral's office? lol
@PhatSeeJay: Ah that's cool. We did a pretty good job protecting the balcony, heh.
That balcony was the scene for quite the intense action. Borg everywhere, crawling up the ledges and attacking from everywhere. Think only time they were driven back was when we managed to slap them so they fell down on the floor below.
Lazors in all it's glory but nothing beats a good old fashioned punch to the FACE!
@PhatSeeJay: Cool, I have only watched the vids but it looks alright. Might have to give it a go when I get done with ME2.. that is if I ever get done.
