I feel like there are quite a few big ones that I've missed, either because I don't have a Switch, or because I'm just not paying $80 Canadian for a new game, but of what I've played:
1. Horizon Zero Dawn (PS4) (Big toss up between #1 and #2)
2. Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Wii U)
3. Destiny 2 (XB1)
4. Cuphead (XB1)
5. The Late Shift (PS4)
I'm a couple hours into Nier: Automata and it will probably make the list, same with South Park: FBW and Hidden Agenda, but it's just a matter of finding the time.
Drunkenly running across the street, tripping on the boulevard and smashing my knee into the corner of the curb. Stretched a tendon in my knee and I was on crutches for like 2 weeks. What sucked is that it made me miss my second day of my new job (which I was out celebrating), and I was also moving out of my parents house the following week, and could not help with any of the moving. Luckily I had some friends that reluctantly helped while I told them where to put stuff, and since this was me moving into my first place I had like no furniture or much in the way of possessions.
I really want to know this too. One of my underdog goty contenders is The Late Shift. Much like Her Story last year it was a game my s/o and I played through together and this seems right up her alley. I'll probably grab it this weekend regardless, but they really couldn't have picked a worse release date.
Played Twilight Princess the day it came on (on Gamecube) from around 10:00AM - Midnight. That has got to be it for me. Second closest would be this one night my gf was out of town, so I started playing Bioshock, from the beginning, at around midnight and beat it around 8:00AM. Don't know why I did that, but there were some scary ass moments during that sleep deprived 8 hours.
Short answer; $60 is too much for me and not enough for them. Now, if I made developer money (100K+/yr), then maybe I'd be on their side too of yeah $60 isn't enough. Regardless, I don't feel bad for whales and if they are what it's going to take for me to be able to buy boxed retail games for $60, then by all means, target those whales and let them subsidize the cost of my games.
Persona 5. It would probably be Mass Effect Andromeda, but everything I've read has put me off of playing it entirely. Persona 5 isn't bad...it's just more that I haven't wanted to play it, whereas from the minute I started playing Persona 4 I couldn't put it down. It just didn't grab me in the way the previous game did and that hurts considering Persona 4 Golden was my 2012 GOTY.
