Hey guys I was planning writing a program for a software engineering class that basically utilizes your wiki as a source. I am planning on using a frequency table to create an app that lets you ask questions like "How many games came out in 1980 for the apple II?". The only problem is that when testing my parser I have aparently been blocked from parsing the site? I am using Jsoup to grab the data from the site. Basically I am asking if there is a any way to reverse this or if I have to come up with a different idea for my project.
Man I had Super Mario Land when I was like in 2nd, 3rd grade and I remember it being really hard lol. Haven't played it since so maybe I should give it a run through since I'm not like 6 or 7 or whatever.

Seems odd how people have such distrust in the government but are so comforitable with private mega corporations with no loyalty to anyone but the dollar seeing and knowing everything you do.
They're both bad in their own ways, but private mega corporations usually don't trow people in prison and/or kill people like corrupt governments do. If it comes down to a horrible dystopian future, I feel much better about the world being controlled by a mega corporation than by a totalitarian or authoritarian government. Neither of them are okay, but at least the mega corp won't outright kill people because, well, it's bad for business.
They don't do that in countries such as the US because they can't. Not because they have no desire to. What prevents them from doing such things? The government.
If major corporations could return to the Gilded Age and early 1900s of US history in totality where they had far greater reach in how they treated and punished their workers, they would at a drop of a hat.
We've been through that "horrible dystopian future" already.
Not to mention that the main issue in the United States with our prison system is that private companies totally do own and operate prisons. The more people in their prison, the more money they make.
@spraynardtatum: Facebook playing mind games with people and the Chinese government implementing a state sanctioned score that determines your worth as a human being are not the same thing. They are not in the same ball park. They're not the same fucking sport. You can opt to not engage with facebook and you can block ads on google. No one is going to deny you your rights based on how many facebook friends you have and the google police will not show up at your door step and put you in a fucking work camp for the that time you jerked off to My Little Pony porn (not having a dig at bronies or people who are sexually attracted to horses, to each their own). Big corporations may use data mining to predict future trends but they're not using to decide if you as an individual should be denied your freedom. or medical help. Or a police response if you are attacked by say, local communist party representatives.
This is a tool that will determine your value as a human based on arbitrary set of values and scores as determined by a despotic and egomaniacal government that brutally stifles free speech and independent thought. This score can be used to destroy the lives of people and turn them against each other on a whim.
They're both mental manipulation is all I'm saying. Also, people get visits from the FBI and CIA because of what they post on Facebook. There's a documentary about data tracking called "Terms and Conditions May Apply" that had a segment where a guy quoted Fight Club on Facebook and got a visit from the Feds.
We get put on lists for what we search on google. And I don't think "opting out" works quite like how it sounds. They're still tracking you. They will always track you.
I think it's certainly the same ball park. We're fiddling with the same stuff but it's more private. It's only fair to admit that western countries also have problems with the modes in which we use data. We also get in trouble for what we search and what we say online over here. It's not the same. But it kind of is.

I've started to build a wall around sanctuary to try get a hand on slotting pieces together before I build my death fort inside of it. The base building thing is super cool. Realizing that you can scrap anything in the building area for materials was one hell of a wake up call. I can see myself spending a long time with this. I just wish you could unlock the camera to get a birds eye view of what you're placing.
yea I wish there was like a console in your base where you could go up to it and control a mr. handy or something for the building process, giving you sort of an oracle from halo forge feel. I get slightly miffed at not being able to get a good birds eye view of my base.
Could anyone help me decipher this? What are my chances of having a better experience than on a console?
Found this video on youtube. The guy's running it at 1366x786 and on low settings, is in the 30-50fps mark. Looks very playable and also doesn't look too bad, either.
@physicalscience: Read that if you turn off god rays and crank the shadows way down, that'll help performance out a (mega)ton.
Just played about an hour on my 7770 and with godrays and ambient occlusion turned off and settings at medium (which still keep textures on high) It looks good and seems to be keeping steady at 50-60 frames. might fudge around a little more to see if I can lock the frame rate but as of now im happy.
I bought it last night when gmg gave me a 20% off coupon. I know that now I pretty much wont be able to refund it if it runs like shit but I figure i will buy a new GPU soonish anyways. Going to go home in about 40 mins and turn it on for the first time and I'll post on here how it is running for me on my 7770.
