I vividly remember Baten Kaitos for the music and its once-in-a-console-generation twist, but I'm in the same boat with forgetting the nuances of the card combat. You had to stack them so they went up or down in a straight to get the most benefit, I think? They never released Baten Kaitos Origins over here so I can't tell you much about that one. It was the first time Monolith Soft worked with Nintendo, though, which was a partnership that lead to many great things IMO.
(P.S. I also thought Rakuen was great, and was sad that Vinny and Abby missed it since it seemed right up their alley. I might recommend they play it for a GBE PlayDate, but it might be uncomfortable to watch them openly bawling.)
(P.P.S. The Danganronpa games would be more fun as anime I suspect. Those courtroom mini-games are kinda bad, especially in 2. I'll reserve judgement for V3 until after I've played it.)
I have whatever the new Enderal game is installed on Steam, and I've heard good things. Hopefully, an Elder Scrolls total conversion not made by the Elder Scrolls people will have more interesting writing or systems. If not... well, it was free.

I have some pretty mixed feelings on the first game (I think it gets a lot of the Phoenix Wright-esque mystery stuff pretty well, but hot damn is some of it the lamest kind of anime-ass anime bullshit) but unfortunately, I'm to understand that the Danganronpa anime isn't great. You'd think it would fit that format so well, since all of the "gameplay" is kinda whatever, but nuh.
