Ooh, more games I'm attached to this time. I have to say, I'm looking forward to seeing what your one Tales game will be (unless you have two: a 2D and a 3D one).
Illusion of Gaia's one of those "Hella Nostalgic" picks for me also. I recall it was the first time I'd ever been super invested in a game's story. It was written by a professional light novel author, so it frequently took these strange narrative flights of fancy you just didn't see in other RPGs of its type: sequences like Kara and Will adrift for weeks, or the Angel Village, or the Russian Roulette gambler. I also loved that game's soundtrack enough to make a deep-dive blog on it - I particularly liked its orchestral samples and the way some of the more haunting tracks have stuck with me. There's certainly a case to be made for it being the weakest of the Soul Blazer trilogy, especially as Terranigma doubled down on that narrative weirdness, but I'll take any opportunity to gush about it. Rudely. On someone else's blog.
