@I_smell said:
Don't go into testing and QA though, making independant stuff is definately the best place to start for anyone who wants a career doing it.
This is partially true, but going independent is not really a way to earn a living and not an option for everyone. Also by getting a job in QA and testing you get to know people, and like with any entertainment industry once you know someone in it, it is a hell of a lot easier to get a job.
but then again.. this guy seems to be filthy rich so he has no worries. :p

anyone wanna take a guess at this guys age?

Sorry, now for a serious note. There is nothing wrong with thinking up idea for games and dreaming about working in the industry, but you also have to be realistic. I don't think you know exactly how much work goes into making something look as good as Crysis, but it's not really a one mans job. If you wanna get into game design (from the sound of it) I would recommend going for something smaller. Make a few simple games first then go from there. Do not focus on the graphics, just design and gameplay that is what developers would look for in your work. They got artist to deal with the graphics.
Another free tip is to try and get a job doing focus testing or QA. They are not the best kind of jobs, but their a brilliant way to get your foot in the door of a company. More often than not QA and testers go on to becoming designer in a game company. You gotta start at the bottom.
Good luck.

just from the way your blabbering about it. I'm not saying your not working on a game, but if I was head of a company I wouldn't want the first thing people read about my game to be a badly written (sorry) wank-a-ton about how great its going to be. That's why companies employ people to deal with the press.
