Let me put it this way @giantbombstaff: this post would be a really bad look if it was about an intern leaving. It's a terrible backhanded way of making light of all the work they put in.

But this isn't about an intern. It's Jeff HIMSELF. If the rest of the remaining staff actually believe this is in any way okay, that this isn't extremely disrespectful both the audience and Jeff, then I'll be very disappointed in them.

And it would be a huge red flag for the future of this site.

@warpr: they do certainly owe us something more than the corporate pr piece they posted. Jeff and Ryan are historically the two most important GB members. The founders. They set the tone, laid the foundation. And Jeff is a fan favourite. If they want to do right by their audience, they certainly should do better than "well Jeff made some content and now he's gone but whatever, he wasn't that important yadda yadda yadda".

They didn't even wish him well or allowed him to say goodbye to us. Sure, we can't force them to do better and explain themselves - but if they don't want to come across as tone deaf and corporate, if they care about their audience, then they should.

This pr fluff piece is one big yikes after another in each sentence. Terrible.

I just hope they address this tone deaf PR fluff piece in the upcoming bombcast. A new era of transparency starting with an anonymous corporate pr piece, which doesn't even bother to wish Jeff well in his future endeavours and mostly emphasises that he wasn't important at all (please be excited for our new shit!) .

The subscribers, premium or otherwise, deserve a better sendoff for the OG founding father of this site. That he didn't write something himself to say goodbye or that there isn't a farewell stream on the docket is worrisome enough. Having this corporate pr piece shoved down our throats as the only acknowledgement that Jeff's leaving, is very disrespectful to your subscribers. I'm willing to give Bakalar et all the benefit of the doubt but they need to say SOMETHING or else it's an even worse look than it already is.

Also, whoever wrote this garbage piece: F you too buddy

@hydranockz: oh man I didn't even notice that! It was too much trouble to even wish him well. I really don't understand the positive reactions in this comment thread - this is no way to treat your most important member of the site. It's disrespectful to both Jeff and the audience. Lots of meaningless diatribe in that pr fluff piece about how wonderful the site is going to be now, but barely anything about Jeff. Gross.

At least Brad, Alex, and Vinny got to announce their departure on the Bombcast. Followed by a farewell stream iirc. But Jeff is ushered out the backdoor with this defensive and impersonal PR piece. It's not only that IMHO Jeff deserves better, but we the audience you're addressing deserve better.

@kerned: nailed it. It's extremely defensive on top of being corporate. There's no real celebration of Jeff's achievements or importance, there's zero warmth and it's extremely impersonal. When you stop and think about it for a bit, this leaves a very bad feeling. A tone deaf piece for sure.

Thanks for everything Jeff.

A few weird things to note: as a longtime fan of this site I'm not happy that such a big change as Jeff himself leaving is handled this way: an anonymous corporate speak piece, not credited to anyone specifically. And why aren't we reading a piece by Jeff himself saying goodbye to his audience? He's pretty important to us you know. It's sad that Jeff is leaving but the way you're handling this and presenting it to us, doesn't bode well for the future imo

Watching them play King of Fighters 94 I just can't get over how gorgeous it still looks. In fact, I think I appreciate it even more now than I did back in the nineties.

Thanks for the good science!
