I'm an ex diver and a forever fan of the sport, so was pleased to hear Abby say she had broken a school record in the sport on the latest? beastcast. Did a little googling and found the (school?) news report on it here if you want to read more detail about it: http://cambridge.wickedlocal.com/article/20110125/news/301259789?template=ampart
Is there anything the GB crew can't do? (Apart from make egg whites...)
The creator(s) has pretty much admitted it was the only way they could give it closure on the budget they had. The bit with Paul and Ryan closing the door I feel was him saying "I have so many more ideas! please help me make them realised!". In some way the stumping of the plot and all the loose ends is a good thing...means a sequel might happen ;)
They run the risk of losing the moment - although the bit in the podcast certainly fed into it. My other thought is they're putting more though into the next playdates, knowing how big it's blown up and that most people have finished the game by now - who knows they might special guest one of the actors in or something crazy.
The point of the game is to catch people in their own lies. Getting into a he/she said situation would be terrible, people would just be calling each other liars etc.
The tripping prompt thing is a genre quirk, you're free to take it or leave it.
The acting is fine, given the restrictions most actors have got " - just sit and there and always act as you're giving an answer". There is some over-acting (mainly by Jenks and Ryan) but it is used to give the game life and energy. Some of the actors I would watch in other things - Emma and James for example seem to be fine actors. The actors are clearly not getting much direction and just kinda going impromptu (how else do you explain how wonderful Jenks is?). It's a beautiful thing.
Compared to old school FMV this game is Shakespeare. It's also just cheesy and self aware enough to be great.
I'm kind of mind-fucked by all the people that think this is actually a good game. This feature is hilarious but that's because the game itself looks terrible. The acting is atrocious, and the fact that you can't confront people when you get evidence from other people that they are lying is absolutely mindblowing when you are roleplaying as a fucking detective. Add in the fact that you can't advance the story without tripping certain hidden prompts (e.g., call the chief! walk though the woods! even though the game gives you absolutely no hint that that is what you are supposed to do), and you have a terrible adventure game.
I bought this on Ipad (interface seems touch orientated and I want Jenks to join me in bed) and am kind of playing along as the boys go through. Thanks so much for this, please let this be the first of a wave of awesome FMV games :D
Aha Irish! Knew it! Just can't hide that emerald blood. Fantastic @anilla1982, hopefully you all get more work out of this - you're all great actors to watch. On that note - is there any of your (or fellow castmates') work you'd suggest the GB community watch?
