@GilbertMordinAndSullivan: I'm right with ya. Pacman CE:DX is the very definition of "videogame." Just finished my first two hour play session and even though I've wrung all the cheevos out of it, I'm COMPLETELY hooked. I can't believe they've managed to take such a known quantity and turn it into something so goddamn crazy and addictive.
I think it's rather telling that I would rather have a 360 controller with a functional d-pad than a year of Xbox Live. But yeah, this should have been standard on all of their controllers post the redesign.
So a year of online is now equal in price to a game? So lame. I'm not much of a competitive online player, only slapping down $8 every now and then for a month of Resident Evil 5 or Hydro Thunder with friends. But still... this is a service that's core functionality (online play) is free on other platforms. Unless the next Xbox is some kinda virtual-reality dream machine, I think I'll be considering jumping ship come next console generation.
The main Giant bomb dudes know a lot about old games. I've always thought it would be fun to hear them do a Retronauts style podcast where every week they discuss a specific retro system/era/game series. Heck, they could even tie it into the wiki somehow for quests and whatnot.
Yeah, but that doesn't mean you have to overprice it. Would you buy braid for 25 dollars? "
I would pay $60 for Braid. I wouldn't take Modern Warfare 2 for $5. I enjoyed every second of Limbo, and feel I got more than my money's worth. I wish there were more games like Limbo, or that it was longer; but I feel my sentiment simply speaks to the strength (or rather my enjoyment) of the game. As another user wisely said, "different strokes for different folks."
