  • When the comic book and TV show made its first appearance, I chose not to follow or read about it thinking it was just another stereotypical zombie franchise. Same feeling goes to the video game adaptation as well but after seeing how it kept appearing in everybody's game of the year list, I decided to give it a shot.

The moment I started playing Episode 1, I was hooked. Instantly, I felt a deep connection with the characters and the nasty stuff they have to undertake in order to survive. The storyline is so well written that I spent my whole weekend playing the game from beginning to end. It's also one of the first few games that made me shed a tear, even more than Metal Gear Solid 4. This is one instant where the story outweighs the gameplay in so many terrific ways.

    Welcome back, Adventure games.

  • Another game that I choose not to play until it kept appearing in everybody's GOTY list. I popped the game in, not knowing what to expect and wow, I was amazed. XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a thrilling experience that sucks you in thanks to its incredible visuals and addictive control scheme. It may look like another lame alien game on the outside but deep beneath its cliche game cover lies a rich and succulent content that makes tactical/ strategy games awesome again.

XCOM reminds me a lot of the Commandos series but in a futuristic setting. If you're familiar with that series or any other terrific strategy games from the 90s, then this is for you.

  • The sixth installment is a drastic change in the series and even though I have issues with the controls and pacing of the game, I consider Resident Evil 6 a worthy successor and a much grander game than 5. However, with that being said, the game doesn't live up to its hype and it left a bad taste in my mouth after the massacre was over.

Then along comes Revelations for the 3DS, which is a throwback to the original PS1 games with its haunting atmosphere and gripping storyline. It is what Resident Evil 6 was supposed to be; scary, pure Survival Horror, claustrophobic, and a good story.

  • With the recent Kane & Lynch games that failed to impress comes a brand new Hitman game from IO Interactive. Not only does the graphics look exceptionally well but the gameplay is more refined than previous installments. It's got lots of contents to unlock and many creative ways to dispose of your targets. The story may be a bit too ambitious for its own right with a few gameplay hiccups here and there but the missions are fun and will keep you entertain for many hours.

  • I'm a huge fan of Adventure Time and so when I heard that there was going to be a video game adaptation, I had to have it. Finding it was difficult though. Not many stores were selling Hey Ice King so I had to purchase it online.

Anyway, Hey Ice King is such a lovely game. Gameplay is real old-school and the storyline is exquisite.
