I'm sure there's one floating around here, but I couldn't find it. Throw down your ideas for This Is the Run.

I propose Zombies Ate My Neighbors, a 90's classic. It's difficult, huge enemy variety, great weapon variety, marvelous opportunities for Vinny and Dan to mess each other up, and great maps. It's a longer game, but the passwords to get to different levels would allow them to save progress.

Link to this article popped up on my FB feed, http://www.theepochtimes.com/n3/1947295-nintendo-nx-survey-leaked-online-people-freak-out/. This seems to jive with a post from a couple weeks ago where an individual claimed to have inside knowledge about the NX after being shown it at CES. It seems a little absurd that the resolution would be under 1080p, if for no other reason than 1080p seems to be a baseline selling point regarding new platforms. Thoughts?

@mach_go_go_go: I'm going to piggyback and then cheat by adding one more, CKII/Total War/Mount & Blade. I want the grand strategy game to end all grand strategy. Let me control every aspect at every level.

Love that 24/7 stream of old content idea. Some of the best rooms I've ever hung around in are video streaming sites. Top two being nreboot.com and https://instasync.com/r/thejudge which streams MXC & Gaki (there used to be all of the batsu games on the playlist and it looks like most of the videos have been been DMCA'd).

I do think that that would give the chat more focus. But I'd imagine it would be an even bigger strain on resources.

Epona, Ocarina of Time. Eleven year old me was blown away. King of Red Lions is pretty close too.

Thanks for the responses, it's pretty much in-line with what I thought it would be.

Like I mentioned, I assumed mod support/bandwidth would be an issue but didn't even think about the likely chaos that would exist w/o multiple lobbies.

@jesus_phish: One can hope, two of the greatest strat games of all time came from Relic (Homeworld and Dawn of War) and the rest are at least solid and play well. If they've been able to correct recent CA jank in the last couple years they deserve an honorable mention in 2016 goty discussions.

Man, if they can marry Dawn of War's brilliance to Total War, it has potential to be a landmark strat game. Dawn of War is the only RTS that managed to turn a stick-in-the-mud economics/upgrades first AoE player into a rusher.

Total War: Warhammer tops my list! I'm feeling pretty optimistic (maybe wrongly) about CA getting their act together and releasing a semi-polished game. Also, Star Citizen...I was a backer during the initial campaign and despite my misgivings on the way development has been handled, I'm excited.

For what it's worth, here is the official response regarding the DLC. https://forums.totalwar.com/discussion/164869/total-war-warhammer-dev-blog-chaos-warriors-pre-orders-and-dlc

I think they've been entirely upfront about the reasoning and I get it. The situation w/this TW launch is the complexity of the individual factions. Meaning...

- Each faction has two starting Legendary Lords to choose from. While not affecting starting position, they affect your faction's storyline and playstyle. The thing to consider/realize with this launch is that CA is trying to deliver a stronger story through the campaign than what has been delivered in past games. This reflects the style of Warhammer's universe whose various stories largely revolve around individual characters. The focus is on Lords & Heroes and the greater rpg-esque style of gameplay of TW:W. I might be overselling this as we don't really know just how much flavor your Lord choice adds to the campaign but I'm giving this as one example of the work involved in adding a new faction.

- Your faction has visible impact on the world map. In the videos, Vampire Counts/Orcs have visible effects on the campaign map. I assume Chaos will do the same. As compared to the cut & paste style of conquering in past games (Greece taking over Roman towns is not going to have a drastic effect nor will Greek influence change the appearance of the campaign map), cities have an extremely detailed change to reflect the owner.

- A new factions includes new faction specific questlines to acquire faction/lord specific gear. Lords and heroes can acquire up to six pieces of gear, some of which are tailored to individual characters based on lore.

- A new faction includes faction specific skill trees/upgrade paths/magic/game mechanics. Chaos might have a similar style of play as the Greenskins (horde style, not vast build paths for your settlements like other factions) but even if it is similar it will have unique characteristics that necessitate greater development.

- Chaos is still in the game, regardless. You will be fighting Chaos regardless of the DLC. The DLC only adds them as a playable faction with all the added complexity that entails.

I'm pointing this out in order to justify the point of the dev blog that this DLC is different than past ones that have been released and requires a significant amount of dev time. Their focus on providing long term support for the game in the form of two expansions which add campaign map/factions jives with this DLC. Their goal was to drop Chaos earlier than in a planned expansion. I can understand why Chaos would not have been initially planned for the first release as it is focused on Old World and while Chaos is kind of everywhere I can understand the possible rationale.

I also understand the misgivings based on the recent track record of CA. However, regardless of their fuck-ups they occupy a place that no other company does. They're similar to Bethesda, they release broken-ass games (have been for years) that have an ambition and scope that no other game attempts. Where else can you get strategy at both the scope and granularity that the TW series provides?
